he’ll fight tomorrow, win or lose. he’s such a great champion and fierce competitor with tremendous inner strength. he gives so much to tennis and loves his sport.

Based on the results at this event, and the play I have seen of both, I give the edge to Fed. Anacone has been a good force. I hope it’s a good match no matter who wins it! These two – what can you do? They have little and big slumps but they always rise back up again. Must be hard for my guys. :/

I am pulling 100% for Roger tomorrow, but it’s a tough match up with him and Nadal. Plus, it just has been Nadal’s year with him winning 3 slams, completing his career grand slam, getting the US Open for the first time in his career; making the year-end final without losing a match (a far cry from last year where he didn’t win a set) – so the ‘stars’ line up for Nadal to put the icing on the cake and go out with a win this year to finish what he has already accomplished this year.

Having said that though – I sure hope Roger can some how win tomorrow. It’ll make my off season (as a Federer fan) a little more enjoyable seeing him win his last match of 2010. It will be extremely tough, I know. And if he loses again, the Nadal fans are going to continue to hold that H2H over our heads! lol! But Nadal is just such a bad match up for Roger that I’m afraid he will do all he can but it still won’t be enough.

Any way – win or lose – Roger’s still my guy! GOOD LUCK TOMORROW ROGER!!!!!!!

Nina, you’ve surely seen Rogers hair better than that, but the man always looks nice. I am very happy for him to be in this final and my thxgiving weekend wish is for him to play unearthly tennis and win the WTF! what great bookends for the year, right? Let’s go Rogerrrr!

Just saying…Roger managed in his ‘humble’interview to remind everyone he had not dropped a set…that he had never played Rafa in the Finals of this tournament (because of course…just in case we didn’t know…he’s never reached the finals while Roger has one this one multiple times too…)…sorry but he just always sounds so arrogant….

Today was yet another incredible effort from Nadal. It’s stunning to count the number of these types of grueling, “epic”-scale matches he ends up winning. It’s a testimony to just how mentally resilient he is. You have to feel for Murray – it’s hard to imagine he can play any better than he did here: 22 Aces; more Winers to Errors (57-43); an actually moving as well as he ever has. And yet he’s going home a loser. On the biggest occasions, Murray always finds one half of “Fedal” too much for him to cope with. Nadal did today what he usually does at his best: he played the points that mattered most, better. In fact, the ultimate compliment to his sheer force of will is best exemplified in this very event. Just 12 months ago he played the YEC in London and not only failed to win a match – he couldn’t manage to win a single set. This time he not only hasn’t lost yet, he’s playing for the title tomorrow. That kind of turnaround in 1 year is a tribute to the commitment to improve himself. It simply is the quintessential Nadal. Just remarkable.

That said, Nadal has virtually no chance to win tomorrow. This court, being “Slow and Low” is ideal for Federer. And especially ideal for him against Nadal. The “slow & low” nature of the court reverses the major problem Federer has suffered against big hitters all year: their shots do not force Federer to have to play from 8 feet back of the baseline. The “deadness” of the court allows Federer to camp out right on the baseline and move inside – just like he was in his prime on any surface. He also gains over Nadal in two other ways, thanks to the nature of the court. Federer will have a lot more time to run around his backhand almost at will; and he will not have to face the high bounces of the Nadal uber-topspin to his backhand. Just about every advantage will be with Federer tomorrow. It would be a serious surprise if Federer loses.

couple of comments: #1 Roger is not arrogant if he can back it up and let’s face it, he has many times. giving facts in an interview is not arrogance. #2 It would be nice for Rafael to win since he doesn’t have this title yet and yes, as Roger mentioned, he’s won it 4x.

Finally #3 I’m not excited about this match. I’m so over Roger/Rafa finals. I would much rather have seen Andy M & Novak or Andy R. It’s time for new blood. It’s downright boring watching the same people win all the time.

I think it this quality that is in large part why Murray and Nole hold Rafa in a kind of awe. Per Nole after the USO loss “you have Nadal who is just proving each day, each year, that he’s getting better. That’s what’s so frustrating. He’s getting better each time you play him.” And Murray’s comment today, while much more positive in terms of his own position w.r.t. this improvement, also implies, since they’re improving [Fed & Rafa], so he has to improve as well: “But I need to improve because I’m competing with the two best players of all time. So if I want to win these tournaments, I want to win the Grand Slams, I need to get better.”

I tend to agree with VM1 that Fed is the favourite going into tomorrow’s match based on present form, surface and 3 set format. But with Rafa, you know he’ll compete hard.

Welcome back and nice read. Hoping your prediction comes true, but I am still sticking to my prediction with the #1 World ranked player, #1 seed in this tourney, Rafa Nadal. This year he proved everyone wrong, and until he is defeated, he has to be the fav in any tournament, any.

It would be a major upset if Rafa loses.

fed has looked the stronger of the two in the matches they have played. watching andy break nadal when he was serving for the match, showed some nerves on nadal’s part.

fed’s serves, if on, will be a major factor.

but it’s fun watching nadal scowl about on the court when he plays. he looks like such a hooligan.

whoever dressed him for this event gets a D minus though. awful.

Federer HAS TO WIN the most important points in the final. Rafa does that extremely well. Look at the semi with Murray. It was a matter of a few points here and there in the third set tie break yet it is always Rafa who comes out on top. I can’t bear to see Federer losing again. Roger, don’t sink mentally please. Your form is simply superb at the moment.

i so diagree with VM1. but what’s new?

it’s another rafa fan wanting it both ways again. writing a paragraph about how great rafa is- all true, but placing him as the underdog with oh so many excuses why. rafa indeed has proven to be the champion on any surface, hc included, fast or slow. rafa won AO 09 on slow hc, now 3 slams this year, one on fast hc and is #1 by a mile and has shown this week that he can conquer the great indoors just fine. rafa is the favorite and not at any kind of disadvantage for any reason. he is 24 and thanks to prp he is able to enjoy his career just as a 24 yr old at the peak of his career should.

rafa fans want it both ways also in regard to age and somehow feeling this “fedal” is between 2 players at their best. however, they like also like to have a laugh that federer is at his “fedend” and mock the fact he only won a 250 and a 500 event this fall.

but when it comes to the “fedal” they are equal? i say no. federer is 29 and not “fedended” but he certainly is not in his prime as he was at 24, 25, 26-he is in decline. although fed produced some great tennis getting to the final in shanghai, he did not have what it took to beat murray in the final and the same goes for paris: great tennis but could not beat monfils. had he won those two events and “cleaned up” as “YOUNG” rafa did during clay season and went on to win when it counted most- wimbledon and us open, then i would put federer as the favorite. ( federer would also be closer to rafa in points!)

but federer’s performance this fall, though he did play and win matches with some beautiful tennis does not make him the favorite. rafa has proved himself on any hc surface, as already mentioned, he has the advantage of being at his peak and #1.

i will be surprised and consider it an upset if the 29 yr old champion can somehow win, yes upset, the 24 yr old world #1. the fact that rafa has not won this event before, like the us open, only makes him more driven to use rocket serve and his improved skills, wear his #1 and defeat the aging federer today.

I think Federer will win.
But thanks to Spanish Tv I will have to wait until tomorrow to find out, since inexplicably they’re showing the final on Monday instead of Sunday. WTF?!
