Andy Roddick says the younger American players need to up their work ethic: “There’s no substitute for hard work. To be honest with you, that’s one of the things that lacks when you see the young American players. It puts a different dynamic on things when you’re playing tennis to find a way out of the country as opposed to playing for fun.”…

Nicole Vaidisova will blow off the Czech Republic’s April Fed Cup tie versus Israel to concentrate on her ranking. “Nicole was always proud to be playing for Czech Republic. More from Justine Henin on the throat-cutting motion from Maria Sharapova’s dad Yuri after the Russian defeated her at the Australian Open: “I was really annoyed and I telephoned Larry Scott (WTA president) to ask his opinion. So it looks like they were allowed to continue with the betting after all… Great! The ATP and WTA is a joke!

Have you just realised that? Welcome to the real world and get rid of those rose-colored glasses. How are you?

To Von:

No, I didn’t have any illusions as far as the WTA and ATP go, to be honest… Just look at those two Italians who got that ban – that’s just ridiculous! Scapegoats – that’s the only word which comes to my mind… The truth is that both ATP and WTA knew very well about this illegal betting for years…

P.S. I’m fine – thanks for asking me this question:-) But seriously, I’ll send you those promised letters soon! In the meantime, feel free to send me some emails if you want, OK?

I commented on that action by the ATP to use these guys to “save face” with the tennis world. It was so wrong and heartless. Those guys were not even top 50 players and, did not earn a lot of money in their tennis careers. But as you mentioned, they were “scapegoats.”

I’ll send you an email tomorrow evening. Until then keep posting. :)
