Rafael Nadal Confirmed To Play In Doha
by Tom Gainey | November 25th, 2012, 12:44 pm

Tournament Director Karim Alami confirmed that Rafael Nadal will return to competitive tennis in January at the Doha ExxonMobile Open.

“We are incredibly honored to have another year with players of the highest caliber coming to the Qatar ExxonMobil Open,” Alami said in a statement earlier this week. “Rafael Nadal is returning to competitive tennis since his knee injury at Wimbledon so everyone is looking forward to seeing what he brings.”

Nadal will be joined by countryman David Ferrer and Frenchmen Richard Gasquet and Gael Monfils.

Rafa hasn’t played since Wimbledon, and the former No. 1 is still intent on playing the Abu Dhabi exhibition the week before.

In a Facebook post Thursday, Nadal said he’s progressing in his return. “We’re continuing practice on the court Today with Tomeu Salva Vidal. Step by step I’m adapting”.

Sometimes I can’t help laughing at the questions asked by some. What does a return to playing competitive tennis at an Open mean? LOL

alison Says:

Alok yeah totally agree, ask a silly question, get a silly answer,or the players should just say,is this a trick question lol.

laslo Says:

do you know how much they are getting for appearance fees?

Alok Says:

@laslo, I’m sorry, but I don’t have a clue. The articles I’ve read did not mention the amount of appearance fees. I’d guess it would probably be $1+million.

Mike Says:

Here is a perfect schedule for Rafa in 2013

Aussie Open
Indian Wells
Monte Carlo
French Open
US Open
ATP Finals.

Why so good? 6 clay events. by skippin the asian swing he has more time too recuperate after the US open. 15 total tournaments. Remember quality no quantity. LIKE FED!!!

Steve 27 Says:

Interesting Mike, but why dismmiss the Canadian Open? Nadal had won in Montreal in 2005 and Toronto in 2008, so I would like he play there.

Humble Rafa Says:

I hope to lease the biggest plane possible to take back all the oil money I am going to get.

Humble Rafa Says:

Officially 1MM for showing up. Plus there are extras. No tax ofcourse.

Humble Rafa Says:

I put my money in the bank overseas in case Spain goes under. But the Arrogant One has to feed the twins and Mirka. So, he doesn’t save as much.

That’s right. Me, a British subject—and Grand Slam champion! Oxymoron much?????

Dear Lady Forehand,

Are you Sir Lady Forehand yet? LOL. If you didn’t receive it yet, don’t worry. You will get it before Diana’s ex husband becomes King.
