Youngster Grigor Dimitrov announced today on his facebook page that he will begin working with new coach Roger Rasheed for the remainder of the season.

“Roger (Rasheed) and I have agreed to spend some time in the short term to help me in the journey forward in preparation for 2014 and we both are looking forward to this collaboration.”

After a terrific first half of the season. the 22-year-old Bulgarian has lost his last three matches on the tour since a mid-August win over Brian Baker at Cincinnati.

The Aussie Rasheed has previously coached Lleyton Hewitt, Gael Monfils and recently Jo-Wilfried Tsonga among others.

After starting the year in the Patrick Mouratoglou Academy, Dimitrov had been with the Good To Great Tennis Academy run by Swedes Magnus Norman, Mikael Tillstrom and Nicklas Kulti. He is also rumored to still be dating Maria Sharapova, but the Russian has been off the tour with a shoulder injury.

This week Dimitrov is in Shanghai where he’s scheduled to play Kei Nishikori in the first round tomorrow.

Well, here’s another difference between Fed and Dimitrov. Fed didn’t need a coach to kick butt!

The answer: Rodney Dangerfield and Paul Annacone.

SG1 Says:

OK folks. Calm down. I didn’t say Fed never had a coach. I meant that in Fed’s hey day, he didn’t have a full time coach.

A little testy today?

hawkeye Says:

Sorry SG1 I know that’s not what you said. My jibe wasn’t directed at you.

Fed’s incredible achievements and legacy don’t require embellishment.
