After five years with adidas, Andy Murray has officially signed on with Under Armour in a 4-year clothing deal reportedly worth $25 million.

“I am very honored and excited to be joining Team Under Armour and to help them tell their story globally,” said Murray. “They are committed to providing innovative apparel, accessories, and footwear, with an unmatched focus on training and performance”

For his 2015 debut Thursday at the Abu Dhabi exo, Murray will continue to wear adidas sneakers until a new Under Armour model is fitted. Baltimore-based Under Armour first made its tracks in tennis with Robby Ginepri who famously wore a sleeveless shirt.

Murray joins Under Armour’s roster of world-class athletes including Lindsey Vonn, Tom Brady, Cam Newton, Stephen Curry, Jordan Spieth and fellow tennis player Sloane Stephens.

@Giles: thanks for that! Its always great seeing rafa and Andy hanging out together, practising. Here’s hoping 2015 is a roaring success for both.

brando Says:

That’s a great deal for Andy. He’s clearly got a great market value.A lot of changes though: kit deals, coaching setup, marriage etc. Wish him the best and all work well to desired effect for him.

Who cares?!

RZ Says:

I generally like Under Armour’s clothes. Hopefully they’ll give Andy some cool threads to wear. Outside of his Olympic kit, I didn’t like much of the Adidas collection for Andy – most of it was too bland.

the DA Says:

^ the Olympic kit was the best Adidas kit he ever wore – hands down. Good taste.

Wog Boy Says:

I was never professional sport person, changing clothes is ok but sportshoes can be tricky .. or not? To my memory, I might be wrong though since I had few drinks (quite a few actually), last night celebrating NYE in the city and my head is buzzing like there is Wembley Stadium inside my head, players usually stick with sportshoes when they change clothes sponsors?
