Rafael Nadal Has A Double Digit Ranking For First Time In 10 Years
After failing to defend his French Open title last week, Rafael Nadal saw his ATP ranking fall into the double digits for the first time in ten years yesterday.
As of the Monday, June 8 ranking, Nadal is now No. 10, his lowest mark since the week of April 18, 2005 when he was No. 11. The good news is Rafa only has 180 points to defend from a Wimbledon four round and a few more points from the fall to defend the rest of the year. Provided he plays a full schedule, he should move higher during the summer hardcourts and into the end of the year.
Nadal still ranks higher on the 2015 points race at No. 8.
Nadal now turns his focus to grass. This week he’s in the new Stuttgart grass event.
“Last year I didn’t play bad on grass,” Nadal said last week in Paris. ‘I played a good Wimbledon. I had a good chance to be in quarterfinals. I lost a match that I could win.”
Nadal will play Marcos Baghdatis tomorrow.
