I always thought it was an odd relationship based on the age difference. If they were in their 30s I wouldn’t have thought that. But a 26 year-old woman with a 21 year-old man always seemed weird to me. But I guess the heart wants what the heart wants and they were together for quite a long time.

It is only four years age difference, I don’t see problem in that part of their relationship, but rather the she is who she is and he is yet to get there (titles, fame, popularity and so on), makes you feel less worth than your female partner, I know we are equal but the world is not perfect.

RZ My hubby is 7 years older than me,just wondering if thats weird,or is it only when its women dating younger men,im a big fan of the luverly Mr Hugh Jackman whose wife i believe is quite the cougar and 13 years older than Hugh(lucky lady)lol….

At the risk of pandering to the trivia mongers, I might point out that Federer’s wife is a few years his senior, and their relationship hasn’t done too badly.

@Jack Lewis, Gypsy Gal, Wog Boy, and Jatt – it’s not the 4 or 5 year difference by itself that I find odd. I just find it odd that he was only 21 when they started dating. The maturity level of a 21 year old male is usually completely different than that of a 25 or 26 year old female, even more so when you consider their backgrounds and life experience up to that point in time. (Of course all of this is based on what I perceive their backgrounds and experience to be since I’m going on what the media says about them). Had they been those ages but had been living in the same town for most of their lives, I wouldn’t have found it so odd.

I think we just got so used to the norm that that male should be older than the female. It is understandable why in the past because the man had to be the provider and protector to his family and the woman had to provide him with children, hence has to be able to bear them for a long period of time, ergo younger. But all that has changed now, so differences in age, male vs female and vice versa, no longer carry the same significance as it did in the past. We are still hung up on the stereotype but that too shall pass.
