Marin Cilic Splits From Coach Goran Ivanisevic After Nearly Three Years
Marin Cilic announced via Facebook that he and his coach of nearly three years, Goran Ivanisevic, have split.
Dear friends,
I wanted to share these news with you.
Unfortunately, I am no longer working with my coach Goran Ivanisevic.
We have started to work together in September 2013 and we had a lot of success during that period, especially winning the US Open in 2014.
It was huge privilege to work with Goran, I enjoyed our work all this time and Goran helped me to reach many goals.
Unfortunately, the road we were sharing on this journey is separating and I wish only the best for Goran in the future.
In the last few weeks, Cilic has twice blown two leads to Roger Federer at Wimbledon and last weekend in Davis Cup to Jack Sock.
But under Ivanisevic, Cilic made better use of his 6-foot-6 frame and his serve, and he won his lone Grand Slam at the 2014 US Open.
The 12th-ranked Cilic is expected to play in the Toronto Masters which begins on Monday.
