Serena Williams doesn’t need any help, but help comes anyways. Last night during a 63, 63 win over Vania King, Serena had the added support of two of the biggest stars in entertainment, Beyonce and husband Jay-Z.

“It’s always good to have Beyonce and Jay in the box,” Serena said.

More importantly, the win for Serena tied her with Martina Navratilova at the top of Open Era Grand Slam match wins at 306.

“I knew it was on the horizon,” Serena said. “I knew at Wimbledon that I wanted to get there. Obviously I’m excited about that. Would like to take one more step, several more steps.

“Like this one’s kind of cool, to win 306. That’s really a cool milestone.”

Serena, however, agreed with the overall assessment that Ashe becomes noisy, especially with the roof closed.

“Here it’s super loud. The first match, it was definitely something I got used to, so today was a little easier. So hopefully I’ll just get used to the noise.”

And Serena’s next win will tie her with Roger Federer!

Serena wasn’t pleased with her performance on the night but her shoulder is holding up.

“It’s stable,”she said. “I just got to keep it like that. It’s two matches in, and usually you want to be able to play seven matches. It’s not even close to the halfway point. definitely want to keep it as good as it can be.”

Serena returns tomorrow to face Swede Johanna Larsson.
