King of Clay Rafael Nadal and World No. 1 Andy Murray both advanced into the third round Wednesday in Barcelona.

Murray, who take a late wildcard to get more match play, got none when his opponent, Bernard Tomic, withdrew due to a back injury. Murray will face Feliciano Lopez on Thursday.

Seeking a 10th title in Barcelona, Nadal took the court with his name on it and destroyed Rogerio Dutra Silva 6-1, 6-2.

“I want to thank the club for this honor. It’s one of the most important tournaments for me, one of the courts where I had the best moments of my career,” said Nadal of the court. “This place has meant a lot to me and the club deciding to name the center court with my name makes it even more special.

“I think I played a solid match. I think it was a comfortable win,” Nadal added. “I played well, with the right intensity against a player that came in with a lot of victories on clay this year.”

Next for Nadal is big South African Kevin Anderson.

David Goffin, Roberto Bautista Agut and Alberto Ramos-Vinolas also were winners. Goffin will now face young phenom Karen Khachanov.

gonzalowski Says:

Nadal controlling the match against Kevin Anderson, after the long rain delay…
strange hearing from Rafa a ‘fuck’ in one of his unforced :)

Daniel Says:

Zverev out so no revival pf last week QF.

Goffin isleading so he can play Nadal semis of closikg here and winning tomorrow.

Murray won first set amd Thiem also thorough.

Seems a Nadal x Goffin semis in one side and Murray x Thiem in the next.

Daniel Says:

Talked too soon, goffin was 3-2 and BP, bit saw scores he lost the set 6-3 and is a break down on third set.

Murray 5-4 second set Lopez serving.

gonzalowski Says:

Chung takes Zverev
Sugita takes Carreño
Kachanov takes Goffin

East power!!!!!

RZ Says:

Ramos-Vinalos is up an early break on Bautista Agut. I read this week that despite his recent success in singles play, apparently Ramos-Vinalos has lost 21 straight doubles matches (with 16 different partners).

Daniel Says:

Goffin out. Nadal draw becomes a joke. Hope at least Murray or Thiem are in finals against him for us to have a more entartaining match.

Daniel Says:

Murray will get a rematch with Ramos Vinolas. Hope no third set walkabout this time.

Danica Says:

Zverev played a pretty lame match against Almagro so, it’s better for his confidence that he didn’t have to face Rafa. Because, Rafa would’ve destroyed him yet again.

Daniel Says:

I am cheering for a Murray x Nadal final.

Murray needs to test himself now and nothing better than playing an in form Nadal on clay to gauge his game.
Can’t see Nadal losing before finals, almost impossible.

Okiegal Says:

Did Rafa get fined for his second f-bomb? He did for the first one…..just curious……

gonzalowski Says:

second… at this match? for the first one umpire said nothing (it was ‘joder’ in spanish. :)

Okiegal Says:

@gonzalowski 7:53

I was referring to an incident several months ago when he dropped the f-bomb……the first time he ever said it and he was fined. I watched the match today but missed the profanity he used. I just meant I wonder if he was fined today too like the first time it happened awhile back. I read something where Rafa talked about it…..probably the post interview at the tournament where the incident occurred. Oki
