2017 Wimbledon Men’s Seedings: Big 4 Are Back! Federer, Nadal, Djokovic, Murray Lead Field
As if time stands still, eight years after first occupying the Top 4 seeds at Wimbleon, the Big 4 again lead the men’s field at the AELTC, the club announced today.
Andy Murray returns as the top seed followed by former champions Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal. Combined the quartet has won every Wimbledon since 2002! And it’s the first time they’ve held the Top 4 positions at a Slam since the 2014 Wimbledon.
Djokovic, who won the title in 2015, rose from his ranking of No. 4 to No. 2. Nadal, who hasn’t played well at Wimbledon in recent years slipped from No. 2 to No. 4.
Thanks to his ninth Halle title, Roger Federer also moved up two spots from No. 3. And outside the Top 10, Gilles Muller vaulted 10 spots to No. 16.
The tournament begins Monday with Andy Murray taking Centre Court at 1pm. The draw will be released Friday morning.
