2018 French Open Men’s Final Open Thread: Rafael Nadal v Dominic Thiem

Can anyone stop Rafael Nadal? It’s up to Dominic Thiem and twice in the last year the Austrian has been up to the challenge, beating Nadal at the Rome Masters last year and then just a month ago in Madrid.

But now he’ll try to do on Rafa’s favorite court and do it in his first career French Open final and in the biggest match of his career.

“I know how to play against him. I have a plan,” Thiem said. “If I want to beat him, I have to play that way like I did in Rome and in Madrid. But I’m also aware that here it’s tougher. He likes the conditions more here than in Madrid, for sure. Best of five is also different story.”

Rafa is 10-0 in French Open finals and no player with a one-handed backhand has beaten Nadal in best-of-5 on clay!

“On Sunday I have a very difficult match against a player that is playing great. I know I have to play my best if I want to have chances. Good thing is I played a lot of good matches this clay-court season,” Nadal said. “So Sunday is the day to give my best, is the day to increase even a little bit more the level.”

Head-to-head: Nadal leads 6-3
A 10th meeting for 2 players who have only ever faced each other on clay – including twice at Roland Garros, with Nadal winning in straight sets in their 2nd round meeting in 2014 and in their semifinal meeting last year. They have met in 2 finals – both in Spain in 2017, with Nadal winning in straight sets on both occasions.

Thiem is one of only 3 players to have defeated Nadal on clay on 3 or more occasions. Novak Djokovic, who has recorded 7 victories against Nadal on clay, and Gaston Gaudio, who defeated Nadal on clay 3 times, are the only other players to have achieved the feat.

For the 2nd straight year, Thiem is the only player to have defeated Nadal on clay prior to Roland Garros. His victory against Nadal in the quarterfinals at Madrid-1000 ended both Nadal’s 21-match winning streak on clay and his streak of 50 straight sets won on clay. It was the first time Nadal had dropped a set on clay since Thiem’s victory against him in the quarterfinals at 2017 Rome-1000.

gonzalowski Says:

weather forecast now not so bad, possible rain (50%) from 5pm

squirrel Says:

Hi everyone, just wanna wish good luck to my Rafa-fan friends here: AM, Willow etc, I’m sure Rafa will win easily! Sorry I havent been around at all these past few weeks, just started a new job, so very busy sadly to enjoy this lovely forum :(

Margot Says:

Hope the men’s final is at least haf as good as the women’s…;) Meanwhile: Goooo D O M I N I C! And don’t let Rafa DOMinate you.

Daniel Says:

Weather forecast helped us, only cloudy till 5 pm, so 3 hours for a good match, rain only after.

Hope for a good final and Thiem not nervous. In 6 of the 10 finals Nadal won in 4 sets, the others (2008, 2010, 2013 and 2017) he won easy.

skeezer Says:

Favorite tournament, favorite surface, favorite weather. Who wins?
The favorite.

AndyMira Says:

Oh!THANK U FOR THE WISH BRO!!Hehe…Rrrrreaallllyyyy appreciate it veryyy much!!

Daniel Says:

The moment Thiem won the coin too and choose to receive I cringe. Why? Nerves.

Nadal having his best start to any match this RG, serving great and attacking from the get go. Didn’t miss a single return also.

Daniel Says:

Thiem needs to improve first serves, in MC he served 41% ad lost soundly, in Madrid served above 60% and won in straights. 2 Double faults this game alone.

Margot Says:

When Andy used to do that Daniel, I used to cringe. Big lack of confidence.

Anto Says:

Man we are really going to get an amazing match from thiem I believe. He is not showing any nerves as of now. Lets see how the match progress.

Margot Says:

Dom has changed his position to receive serve, he’s much more aggressive like in Madrid, much more on the baseline. Good. Rafa still managing to drop shot him rather effectively however.

Daniel Says:

Thiem still didn’t gauge the first serve return in. He is using same position at the baseline as Madrid but missed 3 this game alone. Nadal a bit more nervous, made 3 FH UE in last 7 points.

3-2

Anto Says:

I just hope both Nadal and Thiem to have a very good first serve percentage. That way I think it will be more competitive.

Anto Says:

Even if Thiem is able to play very good. It remains to be seen if he do it through out the match.

Daniel Says:

Hate no hawkeye. Makes the mark bigger on court than it actually is..Thiem robbed a game point.

Margot Says:

Yeah, yet another dodgy line call. Hope Dom survives this one.

Daniel Says:

Will lose a game he should have won long time and can change the whole match Hate not using technology nd bad calls.

Daniel Says:

45% first serves in won’t cut. Remove some power and place the first in.

RZ Says:

@Daniel – yep, Hawkeye showed that ball out

Daniel Says:

C’mon Thiem, one good serve and finish this game you shouldn’t play 8 more minutes. To make things fair.

Margot Says:

Fantastic hold from Dom!

Anto Says:

@Daniel, Even with that low first serve percentage, he is winning many of those second serve points.

Daniel Says:

Jes, Nadal dentense is magical. Inside the corner of the court. lol

Daniel Says:

He needs an easy hold now. All his games went to deuce, just to breathe a lit better.

Margot Says:

An easy hold from Rafa. Courier agree with you Daniel, re Dom’s serve. Really feel he needs the first set to have even the remotest chance.

Daniel Says:

Yeah Margot, he needs it above 60%. Right now is 54%.

Daniel Says:

And cut DF, 3 in 4 service games is too much. Easy hold, 4-4

Margot Says:

Lol was having an easy hold, till he served a double :( But gets it 40-15. Now he blooming needs to have been serving first, twit!

Margot Says:

Now Rafa will pounce at 5-4.

Daniel Says:

4-5 serving under pressure. 2 more holds to at least force breaker. And increase that damm first serve, 44% is too low for his standards.

Margot Says:

Needs help volleying to be sure. Uh oh, 0-30

Tennis lover Says:

Thiem needs to up his first serve percentage and stop producing so many unforced errors..he needs to find way to attack Nadal’s forehand too by pushing him wide in that side…otherwise he will have no chance….

Daniel Says:

All mentally this game is far, 3 set points

Margot Says:

First set Rafa. He’s gonna stroll home now.

RZ Says:

So what do you do if you are Thiem? You have to go for broke to win points, but going for broke also means higher likelihood for error.

Anto Says:

Oh shit 0-40

Daniel Says:

Match over, Thiem only chance was this set. First real nerve testing moment and he cracks soundly.

Congrats Nadal #11 and #17. Wining 3 of the last 5 Slams and 4 finals out of last 6.

Tennis lover Says:

Nadal did not win first set…Thiem gave it away unfortunately..

Anto Says:

Well no matter how good you can play. If you are not strong enough mentally, you are not gonna win against Nadal. I just hope that last game by Thiem is the last of such games by him.

Daniel Says:

RZ, this game was more mental, when he lost that sitter Volley he cracked. Had he won t and 15-0 he may play different. It was his first really really bad missed and it follow a bunch of UE. Nadal did nothing that game but place the return back. He was going for broke fine before this game.

Anto Says:

@Tennis lover, true.

Daniel Says:

second moon ball that lands sand Theim misses the smash. And Nadal slowly destroying opponent will.

Tennis lover Says:

Now, Thiem seems frazzled…missing easisest of shots after dominating in the rally..hence he is losing the points…

Tennis lover Says:

Thiem needs to calm his nerve..play with audacity to put the pressure back to Nadal by playing his shots without committing unforced errors…I see the match already leapt out from his racket

RZ Says:

Daniel, that game was definitely mental with those errors by Dom. But I think it does go to the feeling that you need to go big to win a point, which makes errors more likely to happen.

Playing Nadal has to be one of the most frustrating and disheartening experiences for players. A lot of shots that should be winners come back.

Anto Says:

Nadal playing much better now. This looks like a 3 setter

Tennis lover Says:

See nadal is using his trademark high vicious forehand to SHB and is quite successful in that…

Daniel Says:

Another moon ball lands in, damm.

Daniel Says:

He needs to hold and avoid what happened to DelPo. 5BP for Nadal.

Tennis lover Says:

Sorry to say Thiem seems to me mental mug..so many times he is in driving seats to win the points only to give it away like mental moose…Now Nadal breaks him again…

Margot Says:

Rafa 2-0 now. Dom well and truly “frazzled” love that word! So many of Rafa’s opponents end up being “frazzled.” Loads of doubles and Thiem’s back hand being exposed. Is chofer right, would Sascha’s back hand be a lot more effective?

Daniel Says:

Also his BH is not working today, Without serve and BH DTL, which is coming of long most of the times ,is a straight set win for Nadal. Nadal is solid and doing his thing But Thiem could play better, we’ve seen it before.

Daniel Says:

BH is his shot and is confessing.

RZ Says:

I think Thiem needs to be a bit more thoughtful about when he hits a backhand and when he hits an inside-out forehand. Has a big impact on his positioning and accuracy.

Daniel Says:

Nothing is working anymore. All mental now. He made great quick return is all points, have chances in all points and missed all shots.

Margot Says:

Dom’s first GS final and has developed well known phenomena: Grand Slam Final Brain Freeze

Anto Says:

This match was a real contest till 5-4 in the first set. After that it has been very disappointing from Thiem.

Margot Says:

Hate commies. Dom gets 0-30 on Rafa’s serve and they start talking about “significant moments” and other BS! :(

Daniel Says:

Finally attacking! Deuce.

Tennis lover Says:

Even, Fed with very susceptible backhand and underwhelming clay prodigy (compared to Nadal and djoko) and tactical disadvantage (small racket head) has fought very well against Nadal barring 2008…Why aren’t this so called next gen players are not learning?

The Arrogant Goat Says:

Thiem should pray for Nadal to slip and break an arm, preferably the butt picking arm. That’s the only way this match can be interesting.

Daniel Says:

Not meant to be, he can play a string of 4 points great, too much up and downs, which is the least you need to play Nadal close. You need to be consistent, even if not super aggressive. He mad one return winner, than misses 2 returns.

You know its a strange match as Nadal doesn’t even need to play his killer FH DTH winner, I think I haven’ see non today from the back of the court. Thiem is missing so much, 27 UE that Nadal doesn’t even need to find another gear.

Margot Says:

^ Are they too much in awe of Rafa? In a way that Nole & Fed aren’t?

Tennis fan Says:

Tennis lover, because he The Roger federer

Tennis lover Says:

With this battered spirit and colossal brain freeze, I do not see Thiem a grand slam winner soon..

Daniel Says:

Now is Nadal’s time to clean the lines after Thiem started painting them.

Daniel Says:

Thiem is also not unleashing the BH cross court angled shot to Nadal’s FH. he is juts trying to push Nadal back. That is a shot all 2 handed BH uses to open court.

Anto Says:

Its just that Thiem can’t play 4 good points in a row. As Daniel pointed out.

Margot Says:

Also Tennis lover much as I love Dom, he’s brave, hungry and strong but doesn’t have the shot variety of Fed and Nole. Courier pointed out Nole figured out how to beat Rafa by taking the ball wide to his forehand and opening up the court. But does Dom have the skill set?

Tennis lover Says:

Thiem needs better court positioning knowledge and footwork to execute his shots better he should learn from the Maestro Federer…by the way, Nadal is clobbering his forehand against Thiem’s poor backhand

skeezer Says:

When is the last time Rafa has lost a set against a one handed BH at the FO?

Daniel Says:

Margot, we are thinking the same. This point Thiem open the court to that corner. Second straight Nadal game 30-30

Daniel Says:

His best point played all match. BP

Daniel Says:

Brave Nadal, drop shot BP down is almost suicide.

Daniel Says:

Sun coming out to make Thiem life even harder, lol

fred stone Says:

Brain dead ump calls time violation, next point 40 seconds to serve, no call.
Vamos, bullshit.

Daniel Says:

This games shows why Nadal will never lose a RG final. Thiem threw everything on him and he raised his level and great reading of the game with 2 back to back drops. Only age will derail him here. Maybe after 2020 when he will be 35. Next year and 2020 he will still be 34. I believe after that age is impossible to win RG in moderation age. Eventually his body will have to give up, even with his clay powers.

Tennis lover Says:

Thiem is like play one sublime shots and then play the next one like a novice club players

Daniel Says:

At least hold Thiem and forces Nadal serve the set.

Margot Says:

For heavens sake Tennis lover, Nole has beaten Rafa many more times than Fed has. If Dom is looking to anyone it should be Nole.

Daniel Says:

Well, hold he did. Nadal serving for the jugular cut;-)

Let’s see if Thiem will have chances like last 2 games.

Daniel Says:

Jezz, horrible shot, Nadal choose the wrong side and he does this.

Tennis lover Says:

And 2nd set goes to Nadal, Thiem was in contention to win both but gave away his chances by playing ridiculously in the clutch moment

RZ Says:

Looks like Thiem has started mixing up his shots a bit. Sadly that’s not going to be enough to do any damage againsy Nadal other than an occasional point here or there.

Margot Says:

2-0 to Rafa. Not a great match, sure a really great display from Rafa, amazing actually, but mostly interest is sustained by vaguely wondering how many games Dom will get.

Tennis lover Says:

Margot, Dom and Nole plays games which are poles apart. Last year, Rafa was invincible. This year his game is a lot more vulnerable, still no one can take his throne away from RG

RZ Says:

Agree with Margot that Nole is a better model for Dom for footwork. A lot of Federer’s footwork is based on his excellent anticipation. Can’t really teach that. Andy would also be a better choice. He hasn’t had much success against Nadal but he’s a Workhorse like Dom is.

Margot Says:

Yeah I know that Tennis lover, but tactically Dom could use some advice from Nole. Of course having a double handed back hand would help his cause. But Fed had to put in some serious work on his back hand and get a larger racquet before he started beating Rafa and, I very much doubt, he could beat Rafa at RG, whatever the changes.

RZ Says:

It looks like Thiem has been making some adjustments but the problem is that Rafa is in beast mode. Not much can be done

Margot Says:

FFS Dom, don’t get broken in the first game of the 3rd! :( Agree RZ, Rafa’s offence and defence are sensational. So disheartening for Dom who really hasn’t been playing badly! Phew! Holds serve!

Tennis lover Says:

Every one is saying Rafa is in beast mode so thiem can’t do anything here…Rafa is playing well but his level is nowhere as good as last year when he demolished Stan in the final…

RZ Says:

@Tennis lover – maybe so, but Rafa at 80% of his best is still worlds better than everyone else on clay (except perhaps Nole at the top of his game)

Tennis lover Says:

Thiem almost have to give everything to win a point against Nadal. That’s the problem playing against Nadal on clay

Tennis lover Says:

Thiem is broken..it’s gonna be straight set win for Rafa…

Daniel Says:

Agree Tennis lover, Nadal has 20 UE in two sets. And only this third set with the sun up he starting unleashing some winners. Half winner for the whole match is int this third set. Now he is playing in beast mode, but first 2 sets he didn’t;t have to as Theim was missing too much and to inconsistent

FedExpress Says:

So Rafa wins his 17th GS.

3 behind Rog again. Rog has to deliver again at the Wimbledon to keep Rafa at distance.

j-kath Says:

Thank goodness Thiem is young – he’s got fitness and fierceness but he’s trying to beat Rafa by replicating Rafa’s game …he should be trying to get to the net..drop balls; slice etc…..ah well.

Daniel Says:

Actually FE, by the start of 2017 they were exactly 3 apart: 17-14, so Nadal is still catching Fed as he already won one this year.

Tennis lover Says:

I do not understand why on earth there is no tennis player who can hit 60 winners against 14/15 unforced errors over 3 sets. I think that is the key to beat Nadal on clay…by the way, Nadal seems to be injured now..

Daniel Says:

Damm, Nadal cramping his wrist and middle finger muscle.

Daniel Says:

Pathetic. Nadal couldn’t hardly serve 3 points and Thiem lost last 2. to even taking chance on a physical ailment he can.

Tennis lover Says:

Thiem is a fool he is trying to replicate Rafa’s game to beat rafa that too with SHBH..He is not gonna win in this way…

Daniel Says:

Nadal shortening the points. He knows he needs 3 more holds to close the deal. Let’s see if its affecting his serve next game.

RZ Says:

Rafa’s hand cramp is a result of the vice grip he has on this match

Tennis lover Says:

Rafa is pretty much injury prone this year he is not gonna win wimby or US open with this fitness so winning RG is significant for him to narrow down slam difference with Fed. Nadal is playing pretty offensive now..he wants to finish it by third set and he will…

Daniel Says:

He barely serving and wins the game to love because Thiem decided to go backwards to return. LOL

Tennis lover Says:

Thiem what is he doing now…self destructing himself..poor Thiem…

FedExpress Says:

Faker Nadal

Daniel Says:

He can’t win a single point when Nadal drops him. He will give the set to an injury Nadal. Not even make him close it.

Anto Says:

@FE, care to explain why you think Nadal is faking this cramp?

Daniel Says:

One of the most pathetic break down I’ve seen, Nadal loooks desperate, even his box looks tense due to his arm problem, which must be something that happened recently and Thiem don’t even broke Nadal in 2 games and he himself gets broken. He couldn’t even go with the playbook when playing an injured player. And rain coming ver. He just need to prolong the match the most and instead he shortens it. This a Grand Slam match for CS

Tennis lover Says:

Thiem is playing like a douche now…he was good in first set, pathetic in 2nd set, miserable in 3rd set..how can we expect him to be the heir of Nadal on clay?

FedExpress Says:

To break the rules for cramps and call the MTO???!!? HOw is that not cheating

Tennisfan20 Says:

You guys are blind ? Theim has done very well to save many break points, if Theim is not playing well, Rafa has also wasted many bps in this match.

Daniel Says:

Also think next year Nadal will find a way to skip IW/Miami again and focus on clay. He will be almost 33 and he nows his B level clay is enough for RG 12. He just needs to be injury free during clay as he did this year. Anything else will be a bonus.

Let’s see if he will indeed play Queens next week. If not, is because the injury is worse than single cramp.

RZ Says:

May be inevitable but at least Thiem isn’t giving up

Tennis lover Says:

Stop that shit of cheating tell me why Thiem is so cluless and playing like fag when Nadal is visibly struggling?

FedExpress Says:

good this garbage is over and the real tennis season starts.

Giles Says:

Incredible awesome Rafael Nadal! 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Seventeen!

Margot Says:

Well played Rafa. Extraordinary clay court player. We will never see his like again. Huge congrats to his fans, AM, OK, Willow, Giles et al. And Dom, your time will come.

RZ Says:

Congrats to Rafa and his fans here. Not really much I can say about how amazing he is on clay.

Commiserations to my fellow Team Thiem members. We can hope that Dom will learn from this, keep improving, and have his day in the Parisian sun in the next few years

Daniel Says:

He must be really relieved, because the situation had potential to be troublesome, even with rain coming shortly.

Thiem played like a club sunday player this last 4 games, bizarre. With the amount of years he had on tour he should be more experienced. But is that thing that the opponent also cracks mentally when opponent is injured as it changes the dynamics of the match.

Nadal’s skipping IW/Miami payed of and he gets his 17th and 11th RG. Looks like 12 RG is almost a certainty now, something many of us thought a few years back he could reach.

Fed reached 17 a few years back and some thought Nadal couldn’t reach. Nadal he reaches 17 now, but Fed has 20. Can Nadal reach that too?

Wimby is not gonna happen but USO if he is healthy he has a shot. He won 3 after 2010, so he is the most successful player at USO.

Now onto grass, till next year clay season rinse repeat. Maybe next year Thiem beats him in MC, as he has wins in Rome and Madrid last 2 year;-)

Tennis lover Says:

Even, 80 percent fit Nadal destroys the clueless Thiem. Cogratulation to Nadal and his fans for slam number 17. Off to grass season now. Now, I will be soaking with anticipation for the return of Fed maestro. I hope Rafa’s injury scare will be nothing serious. Good luck for him to participate in Wimbledon

Anto Says:

@FE, make up you mind, is he a faker or a cheater?

Margot Says:

Next year the final will be between Dom and Sascha, just off now to place a wee bet……..;)

Daniel Says:

Fed and Nadal separating himself further. They are in a peak completely separate for the rest. Sampras, Laver, Djoko, Borg in another niche and the rest below.

Anto Says:

BTW. Vamos Rafa

fred stone Says:

Change your name to Bullshit lover.
FE is right and you’re wrong.

FedExpress Says:

anto, both

The Arrogant Goat Says:

If Nadal fails to make a dozen French, that will be big disappointment.

Willow Says:

Agree about Wimbledon, but hes done very well at the USO lately, so has a legitimate shot there, anyway for now hes just won an 11th FO, and a 17th GS, fantastic achievement, hope the injury aint too serious, love Xiscas outfit, IMO Federer and Nadal have to be the two greatest players ever ….

chofer Says:

What they will give Nadal now, the keys of Paris?

Some people don’t seem to understand Nadal not only wins with tennis here. He wins with his head. When he’s up two sets over you, you don’t simply believe the turnaround is possible.

Congrtas Nadal fans here. I’m sure you’re in cloud 11 now.

Van Persie Says:

Congrats to Rafans!

Amazing achievement for Rafa: 11 RGs. Unbelieavable

Giles Says:

Commiserations to all you Dominator supporters.
He is still miles away from Rafa! Needs to work harder. Beating Rafa in Madrid and ??? didn’t prove a damn thing!!

chofer Says:

Nadal says Thiem will win in couple of years? That means he’s returning for the 12th? LOL

Agree Margot. Sahsa and Thiem are, for the moment, the likliest candidates… when this monster retires.

Willow Says:

Fedexpress we move on to grass, so your favorite will be back, and the Nadal hype will die down, and its not like theres many of us left now anyway, you can count us all on 1 hand, but for now can we just enjoy our moment, you will most likely have another yourself in a few weeks if or when Federer wins number 21 ?

jatin Says:

Congratulations to Rafa and all his fans for 17th GS title.
He was ruthless today, saving his best for the last.
This guy is something else, the amount of intensity he brings in every single match is just unbelievable.
Thiem had simply no chance.Just couldn’t handle Rafa today no matter how hard he tried. Anyway, a wonderful run for him as well.

Even though as a fed fan deep down I don’t want Rafa to come too close to Fed’s tally but you just have to admire how Legendary this guy really is.
I am really happy to see both roger and Rafa dominating the tour like old days. Hope it will continue for atleast 2 more years. :)

Enjoy rafa fans, its your day.
HAIL THE KING OF CLAY.
Simply a LEGEND.

Madmax Says:

Willow,

I hope you enjoyed the match. I had my bet with a friend and said Nadal would win in straights, 6:4, 6:2, 6:3 – so I was almost right.

He is unstoppable – certainly on clay – who would have thought, hey? and I think the GOAT will continue to rumble on, a couple of more years at least.

Congratulations and enjoy.

Daniel Says:

LEt’s see how Fed will return on grass. I feel this year WImby won’t be as easy as last year not dropping a set.

They won last 6 Slams, almost a repeat of 2017 so far. But something tell’s me somebody else will wins at least one of the next 2 Slams.

The Arrogant Goat Says:

Why would anybody even mention Federer at this time? It’s Nadal’s day. Incredible player, incredible record. Give all the accolades to him and him alone. Leave Federer out, he did not even play. It only shows those Fed fans are jealous of Nadal’s continued success.

Giles Says:

Jatin. Thank you for your kind words. You are the most respectful fedfan ever.

Willow Says:

Thanks for the congrats Madmax and Jatin etc ;-)

RZ Says:

Thanks to everyone who played the racquet bracket. Final standings:
1. RZ (woohoo!)
2. Kimberly
3. Colin
4. Anto
5. Margot

Giles Says:

Willow. Have you congratulated Rafa yet??

Markus Says:

Congratulations to Nadal and his fans. He is the best clay court tennis ever and that includes the future. I feel safe in saying that nobody else can or will ever come close to what he has achieved on clay. Also for sure, eleventh won’t be his last.

osazone Says:

The decision to penalise is upto the Physiotherapist and/or tournament Doctor which is a function if he/she decides it is acute or non-acute (e.g. muscle cramp).

If it is non-acute and you take a MTO in the middle of a set you get penalised, however if it is deemed acute (i.e. muscle skeletal) there is no penalty.

Since Nadal was not penalised then it must have have been considered acute

AndyMira Says:

Thank u so much Margot,Chofer, jatin,VP,RZ,Tennis lover for your guys congrats & nice words!…Really appreciate it!

And sorry to Team Thiem…I think he will win GS in the future…It’s just a matter of time…

And much much congrats TO RZZZZZZZZZZZ for win the TourneyTopia!!

Also congrats to other winners up there!!U GUYS R ROOCCKKKK!!!

See ya in Wimby!!

Willow Says:

Ive done it on his facebook page Giles, but congratulations to Rafa, im super happy relax hun, but to be honest im concerned about his injury too, hope it aint serious ?

AndyMira Says:

And thank u too to Markus for your nice words!…

Anto Says:

@Markus, Even I believe so. Fed’s Wimbledon count of 8 may be challenged, but I don’t think Rafa’s French open record of 11 will be challenged.

Willow Says:

Lovely post Markus many thanks ….

RZ Says:

Thanks AM! You rock too!

Willow…since you have an in with Rafa, can you ask him to give other players a chance once in a while? 😀

Willow Says:

RZ lol okay ;-)

Giles Says:

Willow. Cheers. 😀😀

j-kath Says:

And to RAFA – absolutely fabulous – and to his fans, Okie/A-M and Willow….and others — big hugs of congrats to all. Absolutely Unbelievable!!!!!!!

Ditto to Markus.

And congrats to RZ (we’re going to have to listen to you in future) and others re. the Raquet Bracket.

Willow Says:

Thanks J-Kath ;-)

Willow Says:

Have to say i loved seeing Mahuts little guy running on court after he won the title in the mens doubles so cute :-)

Okiegal Says:

Theim is so sweet…… a great two weeks for him! Commies to all the Theim fans on TX …. there were a few here today. Theim is a great player and he will win this at some point in his career, I’m sure of it!

Congrats to Rafa on his #11……amazing….simply amazing!!

Thanks to everyone for your congratulations to us Rafa fans….I really appreciate it!

I never get tired of hearing the The Spanish Anthem…. for obvious reasons! But it’s so lively and upbeat! I love it….. I love it almost as much as I love my state song OKLAHOMA!!

A good week-end for me….. Justify won the triple crown….. Rafa won his 11th French Open crown…. Golden State Warriors won their 6th NBA crown! I’m for them because I cheered for Kevin Durant with the Oklahoma Thunder for so many years….. still love him even though he left us….he’s an awesome player!! Yeppers a good week-end!!

VAMOS! 💪💪

And for Choker:
Cilic is listed as No. 4 and played 19 matches
and
Del Potro listed as No.6 also played 19 matches.

Tennis lover Says:

Because Football world cup this year’s wimbledon will suffer from over all lack of attention from maximum viewers. Any soccer fans here?

Tennis lover Says:

U have to give the credits where it is due…Nadal is beyond comparison when it comes to playing clay. But, dominic played like useless mug today. Heck Rafa was not even 100 percent. While, this Thiem guy kept on destorying himself squandering opportunities after opportunities…

Willow Says:

Tennis Lover im a football fan as well as a tennis fan ….
