Simon Halep Still Look For A Coach After Trial Ends With Thierry Van Cleemput
Simona Halep gave it a go with David Goffin’s former coach, Thierry Van Cleemput, but the trial bore no fruit. After a meeting in Australia, two got together official in Doha last week where Halep made the final. But the Romanian decided Van Cleemput was not for her.
“So we tried for one week and it’s finished,” Halep told the WTA. “We decided to stop because we are not a good fit together. He’s a good person, a very nice person, but on court the chemistry is not there.
“We couldn’t fit each other tennis-wise. Personally, he is a very nice person. We are friends.”
Halep, who remains in contact with former coach Darren Cahill, will resume her hunt for someone fulltime.
