Isner, Opelka, Fritz, Brooksby Lead American-Heavy Dallas
No surprise, the Americans are in charge at the ATP event in Dallas for the first-year event in Texas.
The 28-draw event features 14 Americans led by big men John Isner and Reilly Opelka.
The top seed, though, is Taylor Fritz who comes in off his first career Grand Slam fourth round at the Australian Open and enters as the new American No. 1.
Following a bye, Fritz could face former Top 10 Jack Sock, and then in the quarterfinals Marcos Giron or Tennys Sandgren.
He could meet the returning Jenson Brooksby or Brandon Nakashima in the semifinals. The highly-touted Brooksby missed the Australian Open due to COVID, and will make his 2022 debut against either Daniel Altmaier or Andreas Seppi. Though he could also get Nakashima in the quarters.
In a big man bottom half, 2022 breakout star Maxime Cressy is projected to collide with John Isner. Isner will get the Kevin Anderson who already beat Sam Querrey.
And No. 2 seed Reilly Opelka is slated to battle Adrian Mannarino in the quarters.
The tournament previous was held in New York and other areas.
