With Iga Swiatek opting out of the Berlin WTA tune-up, French Open finalist Coco Gauff leads a field with eight of the Top 20 players.

The 18-year-old Gauff is slated to meet Wimbledon finalist Karolina Pliskova in the quarters and then in the semifinals Ons Jabeur.

The top-seeded Jabeur fell flat at the French Open, but hopes the grass can re-ignite her season. She reached the quarterfinals last year at Wimbledon, however opens against the dangerous Karolina Muchova. And she could face former Wimbledon champion Garbine Muguruza in her quarter.

In the bottom half, Belinda Bencic is projected to face Aryna Sabalenka who is banned from Wimbledon.

French semifinalist Daria Kasatkina is slated to face Maria Sakkari who also flamed out early from the French.

2021 champion Liudmila Samsonova also returns plus teen Qinwen Zheng and Bianca Andreescu.
