World No. 1 Iga Swiatek stormed into the semifinals of the year-end WTA Finals event in Fort Worth, Texas on Thursday.

Swiatek dominated Caroline Garcia 6-3, 6-2. She has now won 16 of her last 17 matches.

In the evening, American favorite Coco Gauff got squashed by Daria Kasatkina 7-6(6), 6-3. Gauff tossed in 43 unforced errors and her forehand was dreadful on the night.

Kasatkina and Garcia will collide Saturday for a semifinal berth from the Tracy Austin group.

Tomorrow, the Nancy Richey group wraps up as Jessica Pegula will try to collect the first win of the week for the home Americans against Aryna Sabalenka. Pegula and Gauff are a combined 0-4 on the week in singles. Then it’s Ons Jabeur meeting Maria Sakkari.

Sakkari has already qualifier for the semifinals along with Swiatek.
