Bautista Agut Bests Misolic For Kitzbuhel Title
Roberto Bautista Agut captured the Kitzbuhel title on clay on Saturday defeating home phenom Filip Misolic 6-2, 6-2.
The title was Bautista Agut’s 11th of his career, first since winning Qatar in February and first on clay since Stuttgart in 2014.
“I enjoyed the final, I think I managed the pressure very well,” said Bautista Agut. “I knew I was a little bit the favorite today, but he had so many good wins this tournament and I knew it was going to be difficult. I played a very good match.
“It was a very long time since I won a title on clay,” he added. “It’s very special for me, because I’ve done a lot of good work on this surface.”
Along the way, the Spanish 34-year-old didn’t face a Top 50 player including the 205th-ranked Misolic who was appearing in his first tour event.
The 20-year-old Austrian earned a wildcard in his pro debut. He earlier finished of Yannick Hanfmann in a rain-delayed semifinal.
