Had to take a rain check J-Kath, i didnt mind the none tennis talk stuff, but i got rather irritated that people seemed to forget, or didnt seem to care that today was Armistace day, granted the feelings are running high with the election, but i just thought this was important too, but i guess not ….

Willow: I always believe people should be allowed to post what they want, especially when events in the world can affect a lot of us however great the geographic distances.

But I avoided the US politics. Three weeks previously Walter’s US college friends stayed with me and I heard so much about the changes and choices in the US I couldn’t begin to join in the comments.

Armistice was about wars between nations and their peoples, so was the US Vote.

When is that important to you, perhaps you should learn the word and how to spell it – it is Armistice and not Armistace!
You are on a high horse being irritated and scolding folks for not caring about a day you cannot even properly pronounce. It’s not like misspelling someone’s name. Don’t you realize that you diminish this glorious day by misspelling it? Tsk, tsk, tsk…

Travis: the only thing being able to spell accurately indicates is that you have a very good visual memory. You may be like me in that I can “see” words in my head and can also “see” if they look right or not.
But I have taught dyslexic kids who couldn’t remember how to spell a word, from one day to the next.
We live in an imperfect world my “virtual” conversationalist and unfortunately the good fairy didn’t hand out equal gifts.

You missed my point!
I said above “it’s not like misspelling someone’s name”…
No one is perfect and spelling errors are common among ordinary folks, without even bringing dyslexics into the conversation.

However, if you claimed that something was important, and especially scolded others for not sharing your beliefs about that important thing/person/day, you should make a special effort to at least properly spell it! Otherwise, you are not really respecting that thing/person/day, as much as you are claiming to do – which makes you a bloody hypocrite.

If I went on a forum and preached and scold you all for not being good Chrastians, would I not look like a hypocrite…
Or like recently, when a member of white-trash community drove her SUV to a Brooklyn party I attended (the party was half a block from a subway station) and started preaching to all of us about dangers of “global warning”. She kept saying “warning” all night and was confused as to why we all laugh at her – she thought it was because we did’n believe in climate change…

Nothing is more dangerous than a stupid, opinionated and passive-aggressive person with just enough IQ to use internet and operate a motor vehicle. They getting on their high horses and scolding others for not respecting “Armistaces” or “global warnings” is only a tip of the iceberg. What lies beneath is usually xenophobia, racism and bigotry!

I don’t have much respect to folks like that. Similar to feelings you revealed here lately towards Donald and Nigel.

Ok I’ll stop defending Willow then, because, if I do, I’m going to sound horribly patronising, another thing I heartily dislike. Margot thanks but its OK, i dont seek his approval and i dont want it either,so ill save it for those that actually care, anyway im sorry if i did offend people for spelling it wrong, i was just wondering why its disrespectful to spell something wrong, as theres plenty of people on this forum that spell words wrong all the time , does he not realize id been working and was probably just tired, and how dare he claim i dont respect that day, especially as i had relatives who not only lived through that, but also fought through that ….

Thanks Margot i appreciate that, ive fallen out of favour with alot of people here lately, so i doubt i will make the top of many peoples christmas cards lists, and i dont particularly care to be honest either, damn shame when people need to resort to personal insults when putting their points across, still says more about them than me, i only came here to talk tennis, and give my opinion on things i agree or disagree with, i was never in it to make friends, i have friends all over the country with the life style we lead ….

@Willow..That’s okay..it’s normal..some people like us and some not..same goes with me..some like me and some hates me..but that’s okay..at the end of the day,at least we’re proud of ourselves because we’re manage to get through a day without hurting people’s feeling..That’s something right?
