Alcaraz Returns To Rio For Title Defense, Norrie Seeded No. 2
Carlos Alcaraz and Cameron Norrie are once again the top 2 seeds for the second straight week in South America, this time at the ATP 500 stop in Rio.
Alcaraz comes in off a first Buenos Aires title in which he beat Norrie, and now will look to defend his 2022 win. No. 1 Alcaraz is projected to meet 5 Schwartzman in the quarters with Italian No. 3 seed Musetti in the semifinals.
Alcaraz opens against the little-known Mateus Alves then gets the winner of Fabio Fognini or Tomas Barrios Vera.
The second seeded Norrie opens with lucky loser Juan Manuel Cerundolo then gets the winner of Dominic Thiem-Thiago Monteiro.
The top seeds are: 1 Carlos Alcaraz, 2 Cameron Norrie, 3 Lorenzo Musetti, 4 Francisco Cerundolo, 5 Diego Schwartzman, 6 Sebastian Baez and 7 Albert Ramos Vinolas. No. 8 seed Federico Coria withdrew.
