Novak Djokovic Set For U.S. Return
The White House confirmed on Monday that the U.S. will end its vaccination requirement for foreign travelers on May 11, when the coronavirus public health emergency ends.
That means Novak Djokovic will be allowed to play U.S. events this summer including the US Open.
Djokovic hasn’t hit a ball in the U.S. since his stunning 2021 US Open loss to Daniil Medvedev.
Due to the ban, the Serb hasn’t played all four Slams since 2021. And this year, he’ll acquire points at all four — last year he only received points at two Slams (Wimbledon did not offer points).
Djokovic can also play the Cincinnati Masters as well as the Canadian Masters as Canada eased their requirements last fall.
He was hoping to get an exemption into the March Masters in Indian Wells and Miami.
The U.S. was the last country to have a vaccination policy.
