Rafael Nadal has announced that he will hold a press conference Thursday at 4pm local time in Mallorca at his academy.

“Rafa Nadal will hold a press conference tomorrow at 4pm at the Rafa Nadal Academy by MoviStar to inform about his participation in Roland Garros. If he plays or not and the reasons either way will be only be communicated tomorrow,” his camp released.

Nadal hasn’t played on the pro tour since the Australian Open due to a hip injury, but he has been hitting recently in preparation for the French Open which begins in less than two weeks.

But news that he will hold a press conference more than likely indicates he will miss his favorite event either due to the hip or maybe a new, more recent ailment.

If Nadal was playing, he could simply post on social media stating he was looking forward to seeing his fans next week in Paris. A press conference is more substantial and serious and suggests he will make a lengthy statement followed by a few questions.

Nadal could announce he’s not just withdrawing from the French but also taking a longer period of time off, or even retiring from the sport!

We’ll know the answer at 10am ET tomorrow.
