2023 French Open Seedings – Women: Swiatek On Top And The Favorite
Despite an injury scare last week in Rome, Iga Swiatek is already at Roland Garros seeking a third title in four years, shrugging off right thigh concerns.
Swiatek goes in seeking a repeat at Roland Garros as the top seed for a fifth straight Grand Slam.
The world No. 1 will lead a fully-stocked (as of now) top 32 into the second Grand Slam of the season. While she’s the favorite, there are two other worth contenders.
No. 2 Aryna Sabalenka won the last Slam in Melbourne and she just upended Swiatek on the clay for the Madrid title.
Elena Rybakina is still finding her footing on the clay, but the Wimbledon champion got past Swiatek last week and went on to collect her biggest career title on the slick surface at the wet Rome Masters.
Sabalenka has never been past the third round in Paris, Rybakina the quarterfinals.
While Swiatek and Sabalenka could only meet in a final, Rybakina could be a semifinalist for either. And American No. 1 Jessica Pegula lurks as does 2022 finalist Coco Gauff.
The draw for the women’s and the men’s will be released on Thursday at 2pm at Roland Garros.
Here are the unofficial seedings based on the current WTA rankings and no withdrawals from the Top 32.
