Swiatek, Muchova Favorites For French Open Final Rematch On Warsaw Hard Courts
A top-heavy WTA event could see a French Open final rematch between Iga Swiatek and Karolina Muchova.
The home favorite Swiatek leads the field of 32 which also features a bunch of Czech players in addition to Muchova. Katerina Siniakova, Linda Fruhvirtova and Linda Noskova are all seeded.
This year, however, the tournament has shifted from clay courts to hard!
Swiatek opens against the 181st-ranked Nigina Abduraimova while Muchova meets Aliaksandra Sasnonovich.
Swiatek could face Claire Liu in the second round, then Noskova followed by Siniakova.
After a disappointing finish at Wimbledon falling to Elina Svitolina in three sets in the quarters, the world No. 1 returns to hard courts for the first time since a March semifinal loss to Elena Rybakina at Indian Wells.
Last year on clay, (5) Caroline Garcia defeated Ana Bogdan 6-4, 6-1.
