Australian Open Confirms Return Of Nadal In 2024; Rafa Not So Sure
Yesterday, the Australian Open tournament head Craig Tiley stated that Rafael Nadal will be back in 2024 and will be in Melbourne to play the Australian Open.
The statement coincided with the tournament’s annual “launch” and ticket drive.
“We can reveal exclusively here that Rafael Nadal will be back,” Tiley told Channel Nine’s “Today Show”. “He’s been off for most of the year, and in talking to him over the last few days he confirmed he will be back, which we’re really excited about. That’s awesome.”
In response, Nadal took to social media reminding the tennis world he’s intent to make the trip, but stopped short of confirming he would be there. “I appreciate the vote of confidence from the Australian Open… I am practising every day and working hard to come back asap 💪🏻😉”

Nadal has been out with a hip injury. Nadal hasn’t played since an Australian Open loss to Mackenzie McDonald. 2024 could be Nadal’s final year.
Tiley also “confirmed” the return of new moms Naomi Osaka and Angelique Kerber along with Caroline Wozniacki. All three are former champions.
