In an all-Czech final in Nanchang, Katerina Siniakova rallied past No. 3 seed Marie Bouzkova in a thriller 1-6, 7-6(7-5), 7-6(7-4).

“It was a really tough and big battle,” Siniakova said after. “I’m really excited and proud I kept fighting until the end.

“It’s really tough, and sad that just one can win because both of us just left everything out there.”

Bouzkova led 6-1, 5-3 with a match point in the second. She had two more this time on her serve at 5-3 in the third. Siniakova was able to hold them off winning three straight games to serve for it at 6-5. The 27-year-old couldn’t close it out there, but won it in a breaker to claim her fifth career WTA title in her 9th final.

The 3 hour, 32 minute match was the longest final of the season and the sixth longest match on the WTA this year.

Siniakova overcame seven doubles and winning just 40% of second serves. Bouzkova, who was seeking her second title, was 8-for-12 on break chances but came up short on the biggest of points.

Siniakova improves to 2-0 in tour-level head-to-head meetings against her countrywoman.

Bouzkova didn’t drop a set in four matches coming in. The top seed Beatriz Haddad Maia fell in the first round to Nao Hibino.
