Andy Roddick won his first title of the year in his second tournament on Sunday at the SAP Open in San Jose, beating Czech Radek Stepanek 6-4, 7-5.

Roddick rebounded from a shocking Australian Open where he was ousted in the third round by German Philipp Kohlschreiber.

Improving to 24-13 career in ATP finals, Roddick also upped his record against Stepanek to 4-0.

"I served well," Roddick said. "He didn't really give me many chances so luckily a break of serve in each set was good. You survive a couple tough ones, you give yourself a chance to play well. I did that this week, and was able to bring my best stuff out in the semis and the finals."

During the week Roddick survived a third-set tiebreak against Aussie Chris Guccione in the first round, and beat friend and Davis Cup compatriot Mary Fish in three sets in the quarterfinals.

The 29-year-old Stepanek fell to 2-5 in finals.

"I'm happy with the way I played here the whole week and I'm looking forward to another tournament," said the unstoppable road warrior Stepanek. "I hope my form will stay like this and I will keep going."
