Roger Federer Madrid Feature, Interview [Video]

In this video feature, Roger Federer talks about how Madrid sparked his game a year ago to go on to the French Open crown and Wimbledon.

Federer is mired in a similar slump this year and the Swiss is hoping Madrid will again serve as a turning point.

Last year Federer beat Robin Soderling, Andy Roddick, Juan Martin Del Potro and then Rafael Nadal en route to his title. All opponents he faced reached a Slam final in 2009.

Madrid 2009 was also the last time Federer and Nadal have played.

that was a crazy stretch last summer for roger. i read somewhere that mirka should have been given a trophy at wimbledon. apparently she didn’t leave the box at all during the final against roddick…considering she was heaving with twins that is pretty miraculous.

I mentioned on another thread what a crazy draw that was last year. As you said, everyone he faced, except Blake ended up being a grand slam finalist or champion in 09.

This year the draw isn’t as tough, but Fed doesn’t have it all clicking yet. Wawrinka will do the same thing Montanes did in Estoril if Fed doesn’t take his game up a notch.
