Maria Sharapova Dances, Then Loses A Point To Rory McIlroy At MSG Monday Night [Video]
There was fun all around during the women’s match of the BNP Paribas Showdown Monday night at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
The two combatants, former No. 1s Maria Sharapova and Caroline Wozniacki, played some good tennis but also provided a lot of entertainment throughout their exhibition.
Sharapova won the match 6-3, 6-4 but Russian managed to lose this point to Wozniacki’s boyfriend and newly crowned golfing No. 1 Rory McIlroy.
“(McIlroy), won more points than Caroline did,” Sharapova joked afterward.
“That comment was not very nice,” Wozniacki fired back. “(Rory) did great. He was 1-out-of-1, so he is 100 percent in winning points against Maria. He wasn’t too pleased with me. But he can say he was playing tennis at Madison Square Garden. Not a lot of people can say that. He got an experience out of it and he won a point against Maria.”
