Tennis Players React to East Coast Earthquake

With a majority of the pro tennis stars already in the East Coast preparing for the US Open or playing matches at Winston Salem, New Haven or the qualifying in New York, there was a lot of instant reaction on twitter to the 5.9 earthquake that his the Eastern seaboard about 90 minutes ago.

The rare quake lit up the twittersphere with reactions ranging from fear to shock to confusion to malaise to even disappointment for those that didn’t feel (Laura Robson) its impact.

The US Open, which began their qualifying today, did not experience a disruption in play and no damage to the tournament has been reported.

“#Earthquake tremors felt at @usta National Tennis Center. Everyone is safe and the @usopen qualifying tournament has resumed play” the US Open twitter account posted.

I experienced one about the same scale once when I was in Taiwan. I was on the twelth floor and the whole building kind of shook and tilted. I hit the floor automatically. The people I was working with laughed; they were used to it!!

Anyhow, i do hope everyone is okay in the East!
