Andy Roddick, Tennis Community Mourn Loss Of Agent Ken Meyerson
Our condolences go out to the friends of family of tennis agent Key Meyerson who passed away earlier this morning at the age of 48.
Meyerson, who’s been involved in tennis for 20+ years, was the head of the Lagardere Agency’s tennis division. Among his clients were Andy Roddick, the Bryan Brothers, Mardy Fish, Caroline Wozniacki, Fernando Gonzalez, Sam Querrey, Justin Henin and in the late 80s Michael Stich.
Meyerson was an avid tennis player himself, playing in high school and for a season University of Portland before graduating from the American University in Paris with a BA in Business Administration.
This morning, Meyerson died in his Miami home during his sleep due to an apparent heart attack, according to the Miami Herald.
“Ken was a very hard worker and was always determined to do his best, both for his clients and for the company,” said Lagardere Chairman Arnaud Lagardère. “His clients were his extended family and there was nothing he wouldn’t, or couldn’t, accomplish on their behalf. Ken is, and will remain, an inspiration to all of our agents. We were proud that we chose him to start our US sports operation. He became, and will always be, one of my closest friends and I will miss him dearly. At this time, I think of his family, Claudia and his two girls.”
Ken is survived by his wife, Claudia, and daughters Charlotte and Emily.
Several tennis players including Roddick, who began on the tour in 1999 with Meyerson, took to Twitter to express their thoughts and sympathies:
