Robin Soderling’s tennis season may be in joepardy if reports are to be believed. Some Swedish news outlets have written that Soderling may miss the remained of the 2012 calendar as he continues his battle against mono.

In response to the rumors, Soderling took to twitter to set the facts straight. Though he admits it’s unlikely he’ll play this summer.

“I have NOT taken any decision to end this season. But it will probably be difficult to get back in shape this summer,” he tweeted.

Soderling has also called a Monday, May 21 press conference to discuss his playing status.

“Since I get calls from media 10 times a day. I decided to have a press conference to give them a status update,” Soderling tweeted today. “It’s easier then spending 3 hours on the phone with media everyday”.

Soderling, 27, hasn’t played a match on the ATP circuit since winning the Bastad title last July. Soderling is a two-time French Open finalist.

Andre Says:

I hope he get better and return quickly.. I really didnt know Mono can be that dangerous.

RZ Says:

I hope that Soda will come back. I liked the unpredictability of when he’d pull off an upset.

Brando Says:

REALLY HOPE HE GETS BACK ASAP!

he could rattle the top players, like others, on his day- BUT more importantly he could beat them!

Quality player!

Get well soon, soda!

jane Says:

Agree: I wish Soda the best and hope he’s well soon.

Joelle Says:

Michael Says:

The absence of Soderling has caused a big void in the top Ten and every Tennis enthusiast is awaiting his return any moment. What a reentry that would be if he can start his new innings from Roland Garros where Soderling managed to overthrow Nadal for the only time since Nadal came to the circuit. I was fortunate to see that match and what an effort that was by Soderling. Although Nadal was not at his best, still it requires something special to beat him and Soderling had that day. This is a feat which is not possible till date for even Roger which will tell us how special it is.

William Alphonso (India) Says:

SODERLING IS ONE THE WORLD’S FINEST PLAYERS. I LOVE TO SEE HIM PLAY, ESPECIALLY HIS FULL ARM STRETCH RETURNS, THEY ARE SO AMAZING. DJOKOVIC IS SOMEWHAT LIKE THAT, USES FULL ARM SWING TO SHOOT OUT! I HOPE SODERLING WILL RETURN SOON. I REALLY MISS HIM.

alison hodge Says:

Yeah hope to see him back playing soon, shame especially now,as clay is his best surface, taking out two defending champions in sucessive years, ending Rafas reign at RG all be it temporarily, and Rogers finals streak.

green900 Says:
