Novak Djokovic says he’s OK after a freak accident during a routine autograph signing earlier today at the Hopman Cup in Perth. Djokovic was in the middle of signing autographs after a win over Andreas Seppi when the restraining wall holding the fans back gave out.

The wall and the fans crashed into the World No. 1 leaving him in some visible distress. Fortunately the fans and Novak were unharmed.

“It was a bit of a shock and I am glad that the children involved are OK. I am fine,” Djokovic told PerthNow.

Novak had only arrived in the Perth 24 hours earlier following his win at the Abu Dhabi exhibition.

“I arrived quite late last night and didn’t get a lot of sleep,” Djokovic said. “I felt like I was dream walking this morning.

“But as the match went on, I was managing to get my rhythm.”

What a strange way to start the New Year.

Yes it was strange watching it, but afterwards he played mixed doubles with Ana, and he looked fine: he was clearly having fun and playing okay. It probably hurt his shin when it fell on him though. At least he had a bit of time between his singles and mixed doubles to rest and have it looked at.

His serving looked good versus Seppi and in the mixed doubles, which is a relief, as I wasn’t sure after the Almagro match.

These type of minor injuries are best healed by eating a healthy dose of donkey cheese.

At the Hopman New Year’s Gala – Nole gave a speech and made a joke about bathing in Donkey’s milk (@ 3:30), ha ha ha ha! He also clarifies that the whole story isn’t true; he hasn’t even tried donkey cheese! What a guy. :)

It is said that Cleopatra used to bathe in donkey’s milk. I believe that’s what Nole was referring to :)))
