Roger Federer Addresses The New Baby, Edberg, Becker-Djokovic, The Future And More In Brisbane [Video]
Roger Federer landed in Brisbane yesterday and shortly thereafter the 17-time Grand Slam champion met the media at the airport. It’s been quite an off season for Federer with news of a new baby on the way, a new agency and a new coach.
Federer revealed no timetable or further details on Mirka’s pregnancy, but he did say he hopes she doesn’t have to sit through another epic match like the one he had with Andy Roddick at 2009 Wimbledon.
On the hiring of Stefan Edberg, Federer asked coach Severin Luthi if the team needed to be expanded following the departure of Paul Annacone. Roger liked Edberg, his childhood idol, but wasn’t sure if the Swede could find the time. Eventually he did!
Travelling just 10 weeks, Federer admits he doesn’t know what role Edberg will take right now, but he’ll be an inspiration regardless.
After a bye, the top-seeded Federer will face either Jarkko Nieminen or James Duckworth in the second round. Kei Nishikori is seeded second at the tournament. Roger is also in the doubles playing with Nicolas Mahut.
