Young star Genie Bouchard continues to make a name for herself. The Australian Open semifinalist yesterday hit one of the best shots of the tennis season, and she did it while laying on the ground.

During her match with Alisa Kleybanova in Oeiras, Portugal, Bouchard stumbled and fell to the red clay. But the Russian hit the ball right back to her, allowing Bouchard to answer and eventually win the point!

“That point at the start of the second was crazy,” Bouchard said. “I was on the run and I fell and had pretty much given up on the point. But then I saw the ball come near me and I though just for fun I’d hit it. My shot was kind of weird but I got back in the point and then managed to hit a passing shot.

“I’m looking forward to seeing the video of that and I’m sure I’ll have a good laugh!”

The 20-year-old who went on to win the match is now in the quarterfinals after beating Slava Shvedova today.

Amazing! I love the way she walks away laughing, but tries to hide it not to be rude.

Great shot from a crazy position. Incredible how she even hit it from that position!

Kleybanova is an idiot.

^Absolutely. Apparently, she doesn’t know how to hit to an open court when someone is sitting on their butt.
