Welcome Back John Tomic?
Embattled tennis dad John Tomic’s 1-year suspension in set to expire this weekend on May 4. Unless the ATP or the Grand Slams extend the suspension, it means Bernard’s father will be back on the tour coaching his son and headbutting practice partners.
A year ago John made infamous international headlines for an incident with Bernard’s practice partner Thomas Drouet in Madrid last year.
According to the Age, Bernard will make his second comeback bid (post Miami) in the Madrid qualies this weekend, but dad will not be there.
Without his father, Bernard has been coached by Croatian Velimir Zovko since December. But double hip surgery after the Australian Open stymied his season to this point. The 21-year-old tried to comeback in Miami but lost in a record 28 minutes to Jarkko Nieminen.
