Bryans Brothers Clinch The Year-End No. 1 Doubles Ranking
The ATP announced Friday that the popular California twins Bob Bryan and Mike Bryan have clinched the year-end No. 1 ATP Doubles Team Ranking for a record 10th time and for the sixth consecutive season.
The 36-year-old brothers were guaranteed the year-end No. 1 ranking after winning their quarter in Shanghai. They went on to reach the final today in their bid to win all nine Masters 1000 events.
“It’s very meaningful to finish the season as the No. 1 team,” said Mike. “This is always our top goal beginning the year and to achieve this for a 10th time seems a little unreal. We’re now shifting our focus to a strong finish to the year highlighted by the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals.”
Added Bob, “We’ll look back on the 2014 season with a lot of pride because we played so well on home soil. Winning both Davis Cup matches, the four [ATP World Tour] Masters 1000s, and our fifth US Open was a big thrill for us. Huge thanks to our coach, David Macpherson, for helping us continue to improve and our families for the love and support.”
The Bryans also finished No. 1 in 2003, ’05-’07 and ’09-13.
Congrats to the Bryan brothers!
