Why?
Janowicz was ticked off that Hamou failed to apologize to Janowicz after sending a fault service return in his direction.
“I said, ‘You’re supposed to say sorry,” Janowicz told the AP.
Added Hamou, “he served and I sent the ball back. You know, of course it was not deliberate. It was a fast ball, but he had plenty of time to move to the side. He gave me that look.”
“I did not do it deliberately. I don’t think I was disrespectful,” he added. “After we left the court I think he was trying to put up a show.”
For all his fury, the 24-year-old Janowicz has only once made it past the 3rd round at a Grand Slam, and that was his semifinal at 2013 Wimbledon.
Janowicz will meet Leonardo Mayer on Thursday.
