Stan Wawrinka Will Get Naked For ESPN’s Body Issue

French Open champion Stan Wawrinka will drop those famed shorts and get naked in ESPN The Magazine’s upcoming Body Issue.

No preview press images are out yet, but the pictures will be online on July 6 with the magazine on shelves July 10.


Among the 24 athletes in the issue are baseball star Bryce Harper, NFL receiver Odel Beckham Jr, Laird Hamilton and wife Gabriela Reece and NBA star Kevin Love.

Wawrinka joins a growing list of tennis players to make the issue. Venus Williams and Tomas Berdych appeared last year. John Isner and Aga Radwanska got naked in 2013 and Vera Zvonareva went nude in 2011.

Wawrinka will be the No. 4 seed at Wimbledon which begins on Monday.

Umm…well….model looks are not everything…and Stan has other….assets as he looks for morefans and love on the side..
Good for him for taking the offer up. Stan is pretty fearless.
I notice no companion female tennis pro is named. A nice surprise would be a retired star like Gabriella Sabatini.
Woz did SI. So my by no means comprehensive list of WTA hot ones I would hope would share the tennis part of the athlete issue are Camila Giorgi, Flavia Penetta, Sloan Stevens if she wore sunglasses to cover her bug eyes, Bencic, Alize Cornet, Kvitova, Azarenka, and Ivanovic of course. Serena has posed in an earlier issue, so too Aga.

Stans not a bad looking guy,but doesnt have the looks that make me swoon either,however people miss the point,its supposed to be about athletes promoting a healthy body image,if hot naked women are what people are after why not visit the nearest newsagents and pick up a copy of Playboy magazine?….

My thoughts, exactly!! Maybe he’s more buff under his tennis gear. Stan’s always been a little thicker than the norm…..well, I am too…..should not be saying anything about anybody being a little thick…I have no right…..but not posing nude either….which will make my Mum proud! :)

@Margot and Okiegal – at Indian Wells this year, I was watching Stan practice and at some point he lifted his shirt partway. Surprise, surprise – there’s a six-pack under there. So if that’s any indication, yes, he is more buff under his tennis gear.

Stan is fit. He just has wide hips and is generally kinda stumpy. His skinny arms don’t do with the rest of his body. But he is fit. I think he’s everyday handsome, and he has an adorable smile. And he arguably has the best arse in the sport. Unfortunately, they black out most of his booty in the photo.
