RZ Says:

I felt that these two would split their matches if they played twice at the WTF, so since Fed won the previous one I will go with Novak. It would be a fitting end to his year.

Dave Says:

I completely agree.

Has to be Federer.

Simply because of the beard :) The beard. Sigh.

Tennis Vagabond Says:

These guys were in such top form today. And speaking of net play from the earlier thread, what an incredible job by Federer at the net. That was really exciting tennis. His volleys are night and day different since Edberg. He was much more of a soft volleyer before, now he knifes them into the corners and angles, a really lost art. Amazing to see how the old dog has picked up new tricks. At least to me, Fed is playing the best tennis since his Wimbledon (2012?).

One of the keys tomorrow, at least for entertainment value, will be the battle of returns, especially on 2nd serve. I’ve long thought Novak had the best return in the game, and that Roger, for most of his career, has been far too passive. But Roger has really upped the aggression and consistency on his return of serve. The way things have changed in this relationship: I think Novak’s serve can rival Fed’s, and Fed’s return can rival Novak. Novak has added net play and more aggressive groundstrokes, and Fed has become more consistent with his groundtsrokes. They’re styles are not the same, but they’ve converged a lot compared to a few years ago.

I’m going for Roger in 3. I think he’s due. Novak’s gotten all the big wins, Roger has to squeak one out eventually.
