35 Comments for Andy Murray’s New Baby Is Named… Sophia Olivia

RZ Says:

Darn, I was hoping they would name her Margot. :-)

Margot Says:

I know RZ I’m shocked they didn’t! Shocked I tell you! WTH can Andy be thinking?……;)
Name sounds much more like Kim than Andy, doesn’t it?

RZ Says:

Does for sure, but I’m sure Andy lets Kim make a lot of the big decisions. :-)

Okiegal Says:

I love the same first name letter to match the letter of the last name, I was racking my brain to come up with something……..Margot Murray would have been perfect….better than Sophia Olivia, me thinks. She will be a Sophie, I bet. I know 2 young ladies named Olivia and they are both called Livy, for short.

Humble Rafa Says:

Name is as bland as his game.

skeezer Says:

I believe Sophia means Margot in Andylese.

Okiegal Says:

^^^^ LOL!

AndyMira Says:

I will be very surprise if andy didn’t bag a few victories and add another slam to his resume after his daughter was born..child can do wonder to one’s life..if novak can add 4 slam..why can’t andy?

Robin Says:

If anyone is interested, Murray’s baby’s name Sophia means “wisdom” in Greek. People who like the name Sophia also like Olivia together with 6 other names….haven’t bothered to list them as it is “a done deal”.

Wog Boy Says:

Sophia means wisdom in Greek, but there is much more behind Sophia name than that, particularly in eastern and Southern European tradition, christian tradition, it is Saint Sophia and her her three martyred daughters Faith, Hope and Charity. I do have blessed icon of Saint Sophia with her three daughters on the special place in my home and I got it in St Sophia church in Sophia (Bulgaria), city that was named after her.
Good choice Murray family, beautiful name.

Wog Boy Says:

I just realized that Wiki translation of third daughter, Charity, is incorrect for whatever reason, it should be Love and not charity, in slavic languages the names are Vera, Nadežda i Ljubav, meaning Faith, Hope and Love.

Humble Rafa Says:

Sophia means “wisdom” in Greek

I thought it meant weak forehand or men’s skirts.

Margot Says:

Lol Skeeze, of course it does….;)
@OK
there used to be a Scottish MP called Margo McDonald. As you see, I believe she spelt it without the “t.” Fail. Mind you some people can’t cope with the silent “t” as in harlot, before anyone beats me to it…;)
My response veers from “silent” fury to……;)

Okiegal Says:

@Margot……With the “t” or w/o the “t”……Margot Murray has a nice ring to it!!! LOL

Margot Says:

@OK
My unmarried name was “Morris.”

Giles Says:

A bit of a mouthful, no?

Okiegal Says:

@Margot…..The double “M”…….Guess what? My given name is Janis and my maiden name is Johns….the double “J”! I guess that is why I like first and last names that start with the same letter. I searched real hard for a mate whose last name started with “J”….no luck! LOL
Had to settle for an “R”…..

Margot Says:

@OK
“Change the name and not the letter, change for worse and not for better.”
You had a narrow escape there JJ luv MM. ;)

Okiegal Says:

^^^^^^Margot you are funny and full of personality! I always read everything you post. Are you still upset with us Rafa fans for never being satisfied?? LOL

Okiegal Says:

It is 4:30 in Oklahoma USA and I haven’t batted an eye…..still having trouble sleeping…it’s maddening…..boo hoo…..I could just cry. This is getting old…..

Robin Says:

If it is of any interest:

Margo Symington Aitken married Peter Macdonald. She evidently liked the symmetry of the two “M’s” as she kept his name after she re-married.

Independent throughout her life she joined the SNP then left but continued her independence by becoming an Independent. I think she died a couple of years ago with “Parkinson’s”,

Okiegal Says:

@Robin….I tried to come up with an “R” name for my son….couldn’t come up with anything. He’s a Derek. Didn’t think of Robin. I know girls and boys named Robin…which are you???

I wonder how Margot’s new husband handled that?? LOL

HJF Says:

Cute name ;)….

Margot Says:

@OK
Re not sleepimg I wonder if you do any excercise. Swimming is excellent but, if you hate the thought, how about a Pilates/Yoga/dance class?
1) v good for you
2) will help you sleep
3) you’ll meet new people.
Please forgive me if I am preaching to the converted, but I am evangelical about the benefits of exercise :)

Okiegal Says:

@Margot…..No I don’t and you are exactly right. I need to start doing something. I had not thought about exercise being a sleeping aid. I need preaching to. I have a paved road in front of my home, very low traffic. A mile long so that would be 2 miles a day. Should I do that in the morning or evening?? I have a heart problem too, so that would benefit that problem. Thanks for bringing this up….I have all the time in the world to exercise……

Robin Says:

Okiegal

I don’t know for sure but think Margo Macdonald’s first hubbie might have been pleased as he owned a Bar/eating venue…and Margo’s high profile could have kept his business in the round of success …maybe she still retained a % of profits in their divorce settlement….a bit of guesswork here.

Margo’s very public wish to take her own life (be assisted to do so) – was made very public which is why – in many ways, she re-entered the public’s consciousness.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
The exercise is good as Margot said, but if you have a known heart condition, plan it with your doctor first….you don’t have to run…walking is often enough.

Margot Says:

@OK
See if your doc can recommend classes that would be gentle but beneficial and would get you meeting other people too.
A walk when you feel energetic would be excellent as well. I’m a morning person myself. In my neck of the woods there are special walks for people with heart conditions.
Is there a leisure centre near you? Just go do enrol gal and explain about your medical condition. I’m expecting a full report back BTW.
Enough advice already. :) Take care.

RZ Says:

Interesting discussion here about names! Thanks for the info Wog Boy and Robin.

@Skeezer – good one! I need to brush up on my Andylese.

@AndyMira – I hope so!

RZ Says:

@Okiegal – I do all sorts of exercise but yoga is the one that makes me sleepiest.

Okiegal Says:

Robin, I do not know of the Margo McDonald you speak of…..sure her hubby was happy keeping her name as it was being she was a notable person. Who was she???

Robin, regarding exercise….no way can I run but could do a quick pace after I worked up to it…..slowly then faster. I know it would good for me to walk….When it warms up I am going to.

Okiegal Says:

RZ…I have been told that yoga does make you sleepy.

Margot…….Preach on girl……I need it!! I go to my cardio doctor on the 26th of Feb. He always puts me on a diet. But I have lost 23 lbs. since he saw me last…..so maybe he’ll be a little happier with me. ….but he is no skinny mini either…LOL

Robin Says:

Okiegal – She came into the conversation originally as I think it was Margot who mentioned her. Simply speaking she was highly significant in introducing independence for Scotland (from the UK).

She was also highly profiled as one of the first advocates for euthansia …because she didn’t want her Parkinson’s condition to affect those she loved..always independent personally,politically and newsworthy. STUBBORN BUT A LIFE WORTHY OF GREAT RESPECT.

AndyMira Says:

@RZ..we’ve heard and we’ve seen many people that they’re start to seeing things differently when their child was born,they’re start analyse things in larger scope than before and they’re start maturing little by little..somehow in my guts,i have a feeling that andy will somehow have all those thing in his heart and will show it on court soon..although i doubt that spluttering and cussing will go away anytime soon..

Margot Says:

Ahhh you just can’t keep him away from a tennis court. x
Must be in Scotland showing off Sophia to the Scottish rellies.

jane Says:

aww, i really like sofia. it’s such a pretty name.

and okie, i agree with margot. a gentle fitness class of some sort can help with insomnia. and yoga, maybe even a restorative class, could be a good place to start. you might want to stick with basic, maybe hatha, yoga at first, though. (you don’t wanna find yourself in a bikram class unexpectedly, ha. :))
