Forbes: Serena Williams Passes Maria Sharapova To Become Highest Paid Female Athlete
Forbes has just released its update on the highest paid female athletes, and an honor that now goes to Serena Williams.
Maria Sharapova had been the leader for the last 11 years until the Russian’s doping admission which forced some sponsors to cut ties.
Serena, who just lost in the French Open final Saturday, takes over at the top spot earning $28.9 the last 12 months.
Not surprisingly, with tennis the biggest female international sport, 8 of the Top 10 spots are occupied by tennis players.
