Nick Kyrgios was at it again earlier today at the Shanghai Masters. Playing a second round match against qualifier Mischa Zverev the trouble Australian all but gave up in a 6-3, 6-1 loss.

After, the Kyrgios, who admitted to being “bored” during the match, went after the crowd for booing him.

“I feel like if they knew what they were talking about they’d be on the tennis court and being successful,” Kyrgios said. “I can’t really understand it at all. They don’t know what I’m going through.

“If you don’t like it, I didn’t ask you to come watch. Just leave. If you’re so good at giving advice and so good at tennis, why aren’t you as good as me? Why aren’t you on the Tour?

“I don’t owe you anything. Doesn’t affect how I sleep at night.”

This latest meltdown comes just days after Kyrgios won the Tokyo title beating David Goffin.

“I guess that’s why I’m trying to work on being able to be consistent every week,” he added. “Just took the easy way out tonight and obviously didn’t show up at all.

“Just tough. I mean, you’ve got a guy who is pretty hungry to get back in the top 100. He played well, as well. At the same time, you know, it was just tough for me to do anything right. I mean, I just struggled in every aspect today.”

Chair ump Ali Nili had to get involved. “Nick, you can’t play like that. It’s just not professional. This is a professional tournament,” he told Kyrgios who also received a code violation and will surely be fined for the lack of effort.

Kyrgios stands in the hunt for the ATP finals in London, but said he didn’t care about the event.

The 21-year-old later went to twitter to offer an apology for his behavior.

skeezer Says:

Sooo bad! Ugh.
β€œIf you don’t like it, I didn’t ask you to come watch. Just leave…”
Hey Nick, these people have paid tickets to watch professional tennis, remember?
If you don’t have your A game, you must learn to try to win with something else, not just play like a quitter.
Doesn’t the crowd deserve a refund from Nick?

Willow Says:

What a prat, im bored ! says the man, what about the millions of people out there which would kill to be a top tennis player, or the public that pay hard earned money to watch you, after last week i thought this guy had now knuckled down, and was taking tennis seriously, then he takes a step backwards, really terrible attitute, just retire already ….

Van Persie Says:

He should be fined for that. So disespectful toward the crowds, who payed for those tickets.
I am sure, that Mischa was also very embarrased. This guy went through qualification matches in order to be there, to play a “top guy” at a Master event…

Willow Says:

Agree there really disrespectful to his opponent ….

Dantheman Says:

Kyrgios played so well in Japan, then you see this. He did the same thing in Toronto for his opening match. If he doesn’t want to play he does this. His behaviour won’t change unless the tour punishes him, because his parents clearly raised him that way – pretty low class, and self absorbed beyond belief. If the Chinese fans boo you, it’s pretty bad, because they are more polite and reserved as fans. If he didn’t want to play he should just pull out or default – at least the tournament could schedule some players who will fight for it.

Margot Says:

Oh dear, Naughty Nick still trying to prove what a pratt ne can be.
So good last week too.

TennisVagabond Says:

What an a**.

The AtP has come out with a ridiculous slap on the wrist fine.

ATP: fining someone less than what they made LAST WEEK is not credible. He told a stadium of fans that he doesn’t care that they paid money to see a tennis match. For you to give such a pretence of a punishment is an equal slap in the face to all fans. IF YOU DON’T CARE ABOUT GIVING FAN’s SOMETHING VALUABLE FOR THEIR TIME AND MONEY THEY WILL FIND OTHER ENTERTAINMENT.

lyle nubbins Says:

They should take the tickets sales, and other costs of putting on that match, triple it, and make Nick come to Shanghai and present the check to a local charity.

Willow Says:

There is alot of talent their no question, and he is amazing to watch, but the guy has no dignity, no work ethic, cares little for his fans, and very little for his opponents, there are no re-deeming features when it comes to this guy, and im afraid nothing will ever make me root for him, i lost all respect for him after he did this, sorry to say ! ….

jalep Says:

Is it down to just me and Margot that still like him??
Get well and come back Princess Nick!!

Willow Says:

Jalep im all for a bit of personality on court dont get me wrong, but when you disrespect the public who pay hard earned money to watch you, not to mention your opponent, then im sorry i cant take him seriously as a player anymore, wish is a shame as he was brilliant last week, and looked like he was begining to finally get his act together ….

jalep Says:

To each his/her own, Willow. I hear you. But for some reason I believe it’s not hopeless for him and yet…you might remember how long I held out (and probably still do) for Ernests Gulbis, I think.

Willow Says:

Fair enough Jalep, its just so frustrating to see such alot of talent go to waste Arrrgh …..

jalep Says:

Agree with you about him being frustrating. But seems most of the time I’d be frustrated in this life so I think I’ve gone numb and dumb to it. If I’m frustrated it’s now over in minutes…hours at the most.

He’s probably been spoiled by his parents (mother) …I speculate. Deep down there’s the real Nick. It’s cliche, for sure…

J-Kath Says:

I ought to care about spoilt baby Nick -I’m trying. And you are all right. However, I really like him and apart from his personal remarks to Stan, everything else I manage to enjoy. So sorri – few will talk to me again and I deserve being sent to Coventry.

Go Nick, go.

Now go to bed J-Kath.
Hugs to anyone still speaking to me….and also hugs to those who might one day speak to me again.

Willow Says:

J-Kath if ever there was a poster that would be sent to Coventry then im sure that would be me and not you, remember months back when yours truely wanted out of the EU and others wanted to remain, well i dont think that went down well at the time, so virtual hugs to those still talking to me ;-)) ….

Van Persie Says:

Thanks for the info, Margot ;)
I will watch Nick’s matches only after a few “mentorship sessions” from Andy. Nick does not need spectators after all :D

Humble Rafa Says:

If this is the direction the ATP is going to take, then it is time for Tennis Australia to open a Tennis Physciatry clinic. Papa Tank Engine is still available, I hear. So he will be the best choice.

AndyMira Says:

LOL HR!You!
