Petra Kvitova Severely Injures Left Hand During Home Invasion Attack
In disturbing news out of the Czech Republic, 2-time Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova was injured during an invasion at her home in Prostejov.
Kvitova wrote on social media after revealing her hand was severely injured by the knife-wielding intruder, but that she’s ok.
“Thank you for all your heartwarming messages,” Kvitova wrote on Facebook. “As you may have already heard, today I was attacked in my apartment by an individual with a knife. In my attempt to defend myself, I was badly injured on my left hand. I am shaken, but fortunate to be alive. The injury is severe and I will need to see specialists, but if you know anything about me I am strong and I will fight this. Thank you all again for your love and support and now I would appreciate some privacy while I focus on my recovery”.
According to media reports, Kvitova was robbed and attacked in her 3-story flat around 8:30am this morning. Kvitova’s spokesman Karel Tejkal called it a random burglary instead of a criminal who targetted Kvitova.
But Kvitova, who has been released from the hospital, reportedly suffered damage to the tendons in her left hand.
Police remain on the hunt for the intruder.
