Roger Federer: Winning Three Straight Against Rafa Makes Me Feel Really Good

Roger Federer did it again yesterday, even playing better than he did in Australian against Rafael Nadal, squashing his rival 62, 63 in the Indian Wells fourth round yesterday.

Federer trails 23-13 but for the first time has now beaten Nadal three straight times now and since switching to a larger racquet permanently at the start of the 2014 season, he’s 3-1 against Rafa.

“It’s a nice feeling to win the last three,” Federer said. ‘I can tell you that. But most importantly, I won Australia. That was big for me. On the comeback, I look back at that and think that was one of the coolest things I ever experienced in my career.”

Federer finished with 26 winners, 17 unforced errors and dominated on second serve points winning 75% of those serves, and had several winners off his backhand and only faced one break point.

Next for Federer is a rematch with Nick Kyrgios who beat the Swiss at 2015 Madrid.

“I’m very impressed him taking out Novak, back-to-back weeks, on Novak’s best surface,” Federer said. “I hope it’s going to lead to something great for Nick, that he realizes if he puts his head down and focuses that he can bring it, day in and day out, week in and week out.

“When it matters the most against the best and in finals, he’s there … Of course I’d like to get him back.”

35 Comments for Roger Federer: Winning Three Straight Against Rafa Makes Me Feel Really Good

SG1 Says:

Hey…this guy Federer is pretty good! For many years I’ve resisted the notion of him being the best ever. No longer. I’ve never seen a better player than Federer. To quote Bobby Jones’ reference to Jack Nicklaus, “He plays a game with which I am unfamiliar.”

AndyMira Says:

I am a Rafa fan but my GOD Rog…YOU’RE AWESOME!!As much as it pained me to see u beat my fav…but i can’t find any single cell in my bone to loathe u!…Full full credit to u Rog!!Wooohooo!!

skeezer Says:

Now a moment of silence for the jealous novak church fan base who pray for Fed losses at every turn only to get burned by another all tine record breaking performance. May the AlmazanKitchen comfort you in your time of need. Meanwhile, rewatch the Fedal match, and hope Novak one day be like Fed.

Wog Boy Says:

Wow, wow.. somebody is really butt hurt, calm down and stop squealing.
I know it hurts, grab some vaseline, rub it in, easy the pain and STFU or FO…meanwhile watch another one of Almazankitchen latest master cooking in the nature…and don’t forget to feed the cats, they are starving, Ayatollah Federer not happy with his disciple, no no no:

Travis Bickle Says:

Hey now skeezer, don’t be sleazer…

Get Novak and his fans out of your kool-aid drinking mind! This article has nothing to do with him. Yet, you couldn’t resist mentioning Novak in your comment.
What “record breaking performance” you’re talking about?
Did Federer just won most consecutive matches in Indian Wells’ history? I don’t think so, the record is 19 consecutive wins and is held by someone else. Or perhaps, he has the most IW titles? Don’t think so either, that record is held by someone else too…
Perhaps your “record breaking performance” refers to him improving is H2H with Rafa to respectable 13-23? OK, I’ll give you that one.

Stop worrying about Novak, he has 6 more years to catch up to your idol and “one day be like Fed” like you said above. Looks like that is your biggest fear, keeping you up at night and leading you to comment about Novak under Federer-Nadal articles…

Go trash talk Giles like in old times. You used to imply Rafa dopes, now Giles implies Federer dopes, go at it back-and-forth.
The only difference is Giles is way more honest and real than your effeminate self… ;-)

skeezer Says:

Awww….and the Church of Novak comes out as expected, proving once again whos butt is really hurt. No congrats? Get a life, enjoy the GOAT while he is still playing and IN the tournament and competing for the so called 5th Slam. Karma is a B when ya bark with no respect to others not your idol. It has nothing to do with Novak, a great player (one of the greatest) when he is not abusing his racket or hat.

Wog Boy Says:

Slimy sleezer,
I was watching basketball, it is only fourth round of IW, stop squeling, rub it in as per manual, eventually it will ease the pain.

Wog Boy Says:

Besides, I have a manners, when somebody calls me, I come out to answer the call, you asked for it and ruined the thread, your bad.

smoledman Says:

Church of Novak out in force again. How pathetic.

Margot Says:

Does nobody else on here find Wog Boy’s comment at 11.46 as offensive as I do?
Or as it is so par for the course you’ve all given up?

AndyMira Says:

@M…I do…Ayatollah is a very very respected man in Islam…combining name with Roger who’s christian [i guess] is a very insulting to all Muslims..

AndyMira Says:

Correction:Roger is Catholic and not Christian…Sorry!

Van Persie Says:

^^ Now I find the above very, very offensive!!!

Amit Says:

Wogboy: seriously why the cuss words??? And why insult Federer calling him Ayatollah Federer??? Stop being so offensive sometimes… YOU ARE NOT A NOVAK CHURCH BELIEVER, and you can remind people of that… You are just a Novak fan like I am a Federer fan.. Those who can’t see it is a different matter, but I see it, as many others do.. I am telling this to you coz I feel you are imperfect just like anyone else out there, but I find that you have intelligence and wits, and are a nice man who loves his country and its culture.. I do have a certain level of respect for you, so I conveyed you the message to exercise restraint while replying to some scornful posts and not become too impulsive of furious and use cuss words or totally insult a player like Federer out of no valid reason.. Thanks…

Amit Says:

Why are you people getting so angry with each other just for players’ sake??? 😑😑😑

squirrel Says:

Please, don’t bother with Trump-supporting WogBoy, always giving nasty comments on Federer or bluntly discredit him

squirrel Says:

@Margot Says:

—————-

It’s definitely not the first time he’s being very offensive…

Amit Says:

BTW Hi Andymira, friend I Have picked fed over Rafa in the bracket challenge!! Am glad Fed kept my record good there,lol.. And that’s so gracious of you to respect the rival of your fave tennis player so much.. And you know, I personally believe Rafa will soon rise to the occasion again and beat Fed sooner than later. Fed and Rafa are just too good to keep things too predictable without momentum swings… Right now Fed has won, but Rafa will again be mentally strong in a coming match and beat Fed and vice versa and so on And so forth shall go on till the last imho.. Coz after all Fedal are the best players of the recent era…

Amit Says:

Skeezer: seriously nothing against you in any of my above posts.. You are fully entitled to your opinion so long as you aren’t offensive.. Have a good time…

Wog Boy Says:

VP,

I think they are all confused, I am enjoying there conversation, though I am still trying to work out who is insulted and why, but eventually they’ll work that one out too, hopefully 😹

Wog Boy Says:

^^their conversation

Wog Boy Says:

Since this IW is really dull I am meantime enjoying real man sport, no vegans are allowed NRL, my doggies finaly won tonight, go the Mighty Bulldogs.
All of you, sing along …We are the mighty bulldogs…

https://youtu.be/v4BOoj6idis

BTW, I believe Donald Trumpovic is going to win IW, he has got the best SHBH in the history, he single handedly blue away Clintonic dinasty, what a beauty of SHBH;)

Wog Boy Says:

BTW, he started it, the Slimy, unprovoked, check the thread, but I am good man, I’ll forgive you all because you know not what you do…

Amit Says:

Wogboy: Yes first provocation was from Skeezer side… There was no need to bring Djokovic into this. It was irrelevant here.. But as you say, forgiving someone is good.. And good that you did.. And sometimes one can ignore irrelevant comments as well… One can’t quiet them, but certainly one can ignore them.. Nothing will be damaged by that… And so far as Trump is concerned, I was rooting for his victory.. There are far worse people than Donald Trump in this world politics… He just puts things straight, he has that much courage and conviction in my personal view. If he has a plan to stop crimes/terrorism, then giving him a chance to prove himself is not that sinful imho.. Let’s see what he does first, before coming down heavily on him being judgmental!! As harsh as trump may sound, but historically sometimes some harsh decisions have saved the butts of people as well as the world!!

Wog Boy Says:

Amit,
True I went little bit OTT, but that’s me, little bit rough on the edges.
Agree with your post, but be careful know because of what you said about Trumpovic, you got quite a few enemies now on TX:)
Cheers and peace.

Amit Says:

The word scornful was used for the provocative skeezer post, but doesn’t necessarily mean I think skeezer is one bad guy.. A man is much more than just his tennis posts… Everyone here must be a good person in real life, it’s only that people here get too involved sometimes in stuff regarding their respective faves.

Amit Says:

Wogboy: I shall don’t mind cutting the ties with someone if that person becomes my enemy just because I support Trump and his ideas.. Its my choice, and I have a mind and heart of my own to decide whom to back. Much like you, I also don’t hold Trump a convict before proper trial!! Damn, I am delving into law here, lol

AndyMira Says:

@Amit…hey buddy!Thank u thank u thank u for your nice words about rafa…but i don’t know about he beating Rog or any big 3 at moment to be honest…clearly he lacks the firepower to do so right now…unless he’s willing [or already working with carlos to change a few things in his game]..plus the nerve and confidence thingy is still play a big part everytime he play…maybe in the future..who knows Amit..

Hey..btw Amit…u really strikes at the last minute do u?Hahaha…You’re AWESOME on Bracket at the moment Amit!…2nd place in our group is not bad!!Congrats buddy!hehehe…

Giles Says:

I’m ROFL. There was a time, not long ago as it happens, when skeezer, WB,
M

Giles Says:

Sorry pressed wrong button. I shall continue. As I was saying, adding Margot to my list of names, were all thick as thieves. Now they are tearing lumps out of each other.
Hey TB. Nice to hear you again. You tell ’em. Cheers:))

Van Persie Says:

Yep WB,

I also had a good laugh. Multi-culti talk :D

Amit Says:

AM: Murray ruined my bracket challenge by his early ouster, otherwise I picked Fed and Murray for final with Murray winning. Hope Fed at least reaches the final..

AndyMira Says:

@Amit…yeah,i know…i see your bracket…God!Andy sure ruined our bracket big time!I picked him go to the final with rafa winning…i should smack their heads for what they did to me…

Btw Amit,i hope you’re also will ROCK! in Bracket Challenge for Miami okay? And good luck for Rog tomorrow as well…Can’t wait how the both of them will respond to each other…It’s must be an amazing encounter!…

skeezer Says:

“I’m very impressed him taking out Novak, back-to-back weeks, on Novak’s best surface,” Federer said. ”
Indeed. Now let’s see if Nick can do the same to Fed.
