US Open Outlines Plan, No Limit On Entourages?
The US Open got the go ahead from New York governor Andrew Cuomo, and the event is set to be officially announced on Wednesday.
The tournament did leak out details of their plan which includes a 56-draw Cincinnati tournament followed days later by a 128-draw US Open.
Cincinnati will have a 48-draw for qualifier, the US Open will have no qualiyfing.
There will be doubles! 32 teams will gain entry into both events.
Total purse available will be $60M (combined M&W, CIN & USO).
A sticking point for many players was the entourages. In the USTA release, there was no mention of a limit, only that players were allowed two rooms max with two people in each room. However, players are allowed to rent houses out of Manhattan, at their own cost.
Players will get tested 1-2 times per week and unless engaged in a physical activity (playing a match, practicing or working out), masks must be worn.
More to follow tomorrow when the US Open officially makes their announcement. The ATP/WTA are also expected to announce revised calendars for the summer and fall.
Cincinnati dates: August 20-28 (qualies 20-21)
US Open dates: August 31-Sep 13

The @usopen will be held in Queens, NY, without fans from August 31 to September 13.
The USTA will take extraordinary precautions to protect players and staff, including robust testing, additional cleaning, extra locker room space, and dedicated housing & transportation.
