Nick Kyrgios Withdraws From US Open
From the “no surprise” department, Nick Kyrgios announced that he will not be playing the US Open.
The controversial Australian has been critical of players all summer for taking part in exhibitions, risking their lives and others with the coronavirus pandemic raging. Now he won’t take part in the upcoming re-start in New York, he said in a post with the Uninterrupted.
Dear Tennis,
I will not be playing this year at the US Open.
It hurts me at my core… But I’m sitting out for the people, for my Aussies, for the hundreds of thousands of Americans who have lost their lives, for all of you.
#SincerelyYours,

While Kyrgios didn’t take issue with the event, he called out players for “dancing on tables” and “trying to make a quick buck” on the exo circuit.
Kyrgios’s compatriot Ash Barty also announced that she will not play the US Open, either.
The US Open is slated to release their preliminary entry list on Monday.
