Hoping to get back on track, French Open finalist Casper Ruud leads the field on the clay in Gstaad this week.

Since getting routed by Rafael Nadal in the French Open final, Ruud is just 1-3 including a second round loss at Wimbledon and first round loss last week in Bastad.

Ruud, though, won the Gstaad title last year defeating Hugo Gaston.

Ruud could face the talented young Czech Jiri Lehecka in his opener.

After a COVID infection ended Matteo Berrettini’s Wimbledon before it could even start, the Italian makes his 2022 debut on European clay. He missed the spring season, but will give it a go in the summer making making his debut in the scenic Swiss city.

Berrettini could open against Richard Gasquet in the second round.

Roberto Bautista Agut is seeded third followed by Wimbledon quarterfinalist Cristian Garin.

Dominic Thiem also in the field. The former US Open champion enjoyed the best run of his comeback making the quarterfinals last week in Bastad before losing to Sebastian Baez. The 28-year-old Thiem also won Gstaad before, though faces 2021 finalist Gaston.
