Pera Streaks Past Kontaveit For Hamburg Title, Has Won 24 Straight Sets
Bernarda Pera is enjoying the July of her life. The 27-year-old Pera won her second title in as many weeks cruising past world No. 2 Anett Kontaveit 6-2, 6-4 to win in Hamburg on Saturday.
Pera began her journey as a qualifier in Budapest last week. Then stormed to that title, the first of her career. Then this week, she’s continued her form racing past the Estonian today for her second career Top 10 win, and biggest of her career.
“BACK. TO. BACK. What a ride π So grateful and happy to be holding this beautiful trophy π Thank you for making me feel like home @hamburgopen,” Pera posted on Instagram.
The lefty Pera dropped just three points on first serve in the opening set.
Pera was 180th-ranked at the start of Budapest. After her consecutive title, she’ll be ranked inside the Top 60. She’s won her last 12 matches.
