Wimbledon Men’s Seedings: Alcaraz, Djokovic Top 2; Murray Unseeded

For the third straight year Wimbledon has gone with the ATP rankings to seed the men. That means Carlos Alcaraz will get the top spot for a second straight Slam while 7-time champion Novak Djokovic is seeded second.

Djokovic had been the top seed at the last three Wimbledons — he’s won the last four. It’s the third time he’ll get the second seed, first since 2017 when he retired to Tomas Berdych with an elbow injury.

Djokovic won his first Wimbledon seeded second in 2011. He’ll go for an 8th Wimbledon and record-tying 24th Slam next week.

Alcaraz is seeded No. 1 for a first time at Wimbledon. The Spaniard lost to Jannik Sinner in the fourth round last year, but did just win his first grass title in Queen’s to earn the top seed.

With ranking points back on the line, No. 1 could also change hands again.

After Alcaraz and Djokovic, it’s Daniil Medvedev, Casper Ruud, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Holger Rune, Andrey Rublev and Jannik Sinner.

2022 finalist Nick Kyrgios just made the cut at No. 31. But former winner Andy Murray — who won his first Wimbledon 10 years ago in 2013 — along with Matteo Berrettini and new American hope Ben Shelton were among those who missed out on a seed.

The singles draws are expected out by 11am Friday in Wimbledon.

The tournament begins on Monday with Djokovic opening play at 1pm.
