Fritz Top Seed In Atlanta, But Eyes On Eubanks And Return Of Nishikori

Taylor Fritz opens his summer hard court season in Atlanta in a strong field.

Fritz is also the American No. 1, but will likely not be the main attraction. Atlanta native Chris Eubanks makes his debut after his stunning Wimbledon quarterfinal run. He’ll have the attention of his home city.

Also of interest is the return to tour-level action of Kei Nishikori. The former Top 10 has been sidelined with a hip but only came back recently at the Challenger. Now he’ll step up to the tour-level.


Two-time champion Alex De Minaur is back to defend his 2022 win. Six-time champion John Isner, Gael Monfils Ben Shelton, JJ Wolf and new American star Alex Michelsen are also in the draw.

Top seeds are: 1 Taylor Fritz, 2 Alex De Minaur, 3 Daniel Evans, 4 Yoshihito Nishioka, 5 Christopher Eubanks, 6 Ben Shelton, 7 Ugo Humbert, 8 JJ Wolf, .

No. 1 Fritz is projected to meet 6 Shelton in the quarters, No. 3 Evans – 8 Wolf, No. 5 Eubanks – 4 Nishioka, and 7 seed Humbert – 2 De Minaur in the bottom quarter.

The semifinals could see Taylor Fritz-Daniel Evans and Alex De Minaur-Yoshihito Nishioka.

The top seeded Fritz opens with a bye before the winner of Yibing Wu-Corentin Moutet.

The second seeded De Minaur with see either Gael Monfils or Thanasi Kokkinakis.
